If all golf was on the Beeb I wouldn't need to subscribe to Sky sports. As its the only sport I'm interested in.

If there is a BBC3 ch 115 & a BBC4 ch 116 then surely we can have BBC Golf on ch 117 as that channel number is available before you get to ITV2 on ch 118

As another option, I've asked Sky if they can have a dedicated golf channel to subscribe to so I don't need to subscribe to the full sky sports package. But they are really not interested.

Then there is Eurosport, it used to be free, but now you only get it if you want the News channel package.

Setanta Sports, again no Golf only option & then its only the US-PGA golf (big deal) & the senior tours etc. so no joy there either.

ESPN, well that's free to view, as long as you only want to see classic old golf, fun, but still no all in one solution.

C'mon Beeb sort out your act its one thing getting F1 back, but really we need European Tour, European Seniors Tour European Ladies Tour, Challenge & Europro Tours. More than enough golf to give us a dedicated Golf channel, Hell I'd pay an extra £5 a month to get it, if there was also tips programs too included, much as the Golf channel used to have, when it was on ch423. Not now though. & that used to be free.

I am half with you on this rant, SKY is a rip off, having to pay for Setanta to get the golf channel on top is even more of a rip off and having to have the news channel to get Euro sport is taking the pi55.

As for the BBC, whats the point of them doing it? It would cost them so much to buy all that golf from SKY and not all people are Golf nuts like us, people would be going nuts waving their hands in the air singing petitions about having to pay an extra fiver a month to watch some people dressed in funny cloths hitting a little white ball about.

No, just venting out some frustration I've felt for a while, whilst being able to enjoy the great coverage we are getting this week & last & venting a bit that if we can get this two weeks on the trot, then why not 52 weeks of the year at every European Contest...

And isn't it great coverage.

Yes I enjoy what I get from Sky, its almost Irksome that over these2 weeks I've actually not got my monies worth out of sky...lol

Just wondered how many other people agreed with me as I think its something worth petitioning about to the Beeb to try & get the coverage rights for something we should be getting anyway.

Or petitioning to Sky to actually provide the sports service in a way that is more conducive & give more value for money than currently offered. Same goes for Setanta...

So not a bad day, just a general rant, even though enjoying a good days coverage.

If you wanted to see me having a bad day you should have been there when I was playing a round of golf on Monday...lol Never lost it on a course before, did that day...lol

You might be amazed at the following golf is starting to get accross the country. Go down to your local course & see the amount of people having lessons, this includes more ladies than I've ever seen before, not to mention their kids which seem to take over the accademy course near where I live. The cross section of people you now see walking round golf competitions spectating is now amazing. All ages & classes of people. When I was at the Masters last year I even saw a group of Hairy bikers thoughouly enjoying the day out.

I think I'd rather watch 74 Poulters for 12 or 16 hours coverage a day than be forced to watch ch 4's big brother 24 hrs a day,or suffer all these reality/ game shows/or lord forbid soap operas, this includes the BIll & all the hospital dramas.

When the highlight of your week appart from the golf is Scrapheap challenge, Top Gear & Time Team, I can be forgiven for not feeling I'm not getting value for money...

I feel sorry for people who have no specialist interests.

I have had to listen to the golf on the radio for much of today and have been very impressed with 5 Live. For someone who has, as far as I know, no real connection to the game, Simon Mayo has done a sterling job of anchoring the commontary, Lineker should take note.

Yeah 5 Live is very good when you can't get access to a televison. Great when you are driving, the only annoying thing is that generally 5 live does have a habit of switching between live events, especially on Saturdays or Sundays.

agree with the 5Live comments i've been listening to it for the last 5 years or so...apart from the ar*se licking it gives the Premiership. Ian Carter is IMO, one of the best commentators on the cricuit. I too, would love to see the Beeb doing a dedicated golf channel...i suscribe to Setanta only as Sky is a complete ripoff...
