I live in Ashford and have the choice of three courses to join. Two 9 hole courses Homelands bettergolf 5 day membership £335 a year. Great chart which is simialrly priced but i don't know exactly. Both a little short on yardage Homelands is about 4300 for 18 holes. The only 18 hole course i know of is Ashford golf club which i have played a few times and really enjoy but is £570 ish + £800 joining. It is slightly longer i think almost 6000.

I would prefer the longer course but is this price difference normal between 9 and 18 hole courses. i am leaning towards Homelands.

Is the price for the 18 hole a 5 day membership? If so, shop around, i'm sure that you can get a better deal.
Full membership cost me just short of 700 squid, no joining fee.

It would be 18 hole every time for me

There are plenty of courses around that way that can't be more than 20 minutes or so in a car. There is the 18 hole track inside Bushey Park (Hampton Court Golf Club???) Shepperton, Strawberry Hill etc. I'd have a look on a map at what is near you and do some research on t'net

Given the choice I would always go for an 18 hole course. Is it just me but I always feel slightly cheated playing just nine or playing the same course twice (but from different tee boxes). I just feel I'm not quite getting full value somehow. Very hard to explain and probably just me

Popped down the range tonight hit most well 40% of driver shots almost straight and hitting the net at the back of the ranger marked 250yards. As i was leaving all pleased with myself ended up getting membership for one year. £307 till April 1st 09 on Homelands nine hole course. Due to the amount i wish to play and mileage cost thought i should atay local, especially with fuel prices possibly doubling this year.

Vig unfortunately i having been trying to work on the Ashford 18 hole price for a while but they wouldn't budge. The other problem is they don't have a normal range to warm up on which i like to do. I guess South East prices higher as normal.
