Golf added to Commonwealth Games

So after the initial re-entry of golf in the last 2 Olympic games in 2016/2020 golf has now been added to the commonwealth games for 2026 and its still in Olympics for Paris 2024
(No idea of format for Commonwealth games but from what I see in other threads nothing other than 72 hole strokeplay is to be taken seriously )

In homage to the athletic roots of the Commonwealth games, how about something completely groundbreaking, like a gunshot start, and maybe even get really radical, and let the players wear shorts - like their fellow athletes ;-)
