Gol balls in winter

Re: Golf balls in winter

I change balls to a cheaper one in winter, simply because it would annoy the hell out of me to keep losing Pro V's just because the ball has sunk into the fairway/semi-rough.
I've been using yellow Srixon AD333's this winter.

In theory I believe the ball will not compress as much as it does in summer, and as Pro V's don't compress as much as some other balls there should be a slight difference in distance. But I don't know if that is necessarily the case?

Re: Golf balls in winter

I normally play Pro V1x but have switched to new Srixon AD333 for this winter. They don't feel quite as nice but the Pro V1x's were spinning far too much on the soft winter greens. The AD333's are just the job and much cheaper to play while the greens are so soft.
I was exactly the same but found I was getting virtually no spin off the AD333 so I've gone back to the ProV1x but the cost is making me reconsider again.

I'm having no problems stopping the AD333's on the greens. Dead stop or screwing back a foot or two is the usual result for me.

Our greens our still pretty firm though and they were running at 9.5 last week apparently. Never thought I'd be a ball snob but im so used to the proV that everything else ive tried feels like a pebble even the Wilson staff DX3 I used to love.

Our greens are very soft at the moment, still playable but soft.
