GoKart Electric Trolley

And they're £400 cheaper than the nearest Powakaddy or Motocaddy!

Are they? I just had a look out of interest the ones I saw were £500 for a 18 hole with lithium battery. Same price as the PK . the extended range is 549 which is cheaper than the go kart (not by much)

Have they gone up in price?

Apologies that was with speed control or something without comes out slightly cheaper (£30) but extended range is same price

You're right. They aren't.
God knows what I was thinking!

I have to admit I always thought they were well cheaper. Maybe like everything they started off dirt cheap and won customers over but then need to rise prices

Or powercaddy has got cheaper

But then gokart seem to be a few models where pk you can do all kinds of nonsense to to really rack up the cost.. GPS, remote.. bigger gps. Smaller fold etc etc

Thanks for all the responses guys, much appreciated (y)

Is the automatic speed worth the extra money?

Also the post about it being a tip risk is putting me off a bit.

I like the auto, but it's the only one I've had.
I've never been convinced that I'd call it automatic, personally. I think that gives the impression it's cleverer than it is. It's just that the speed control is in the cross bar of the handle. Push to speed up; pull to slow down; pull firmly to stop.
As long as you're holding the handle firmly it does kind of match your walking speed.

It's pretty hilly around us but I've never had a sideways tip. But I haven't put it in a position where that might happen.
The only tip I've had has been when going up a steep incline and taking my hand off the handle. It tipped backwards towards me and dumped half the clubs but obviously kept going.
Oh, and it did once try to mount one of my playing partners. How I laughed.
I'd have another one if it broke. They are stellar value for money.

Cheers Rich that's really helpful to know re the automatic speed. Was wondering how it worked and matched your walking pace.

My daughters just had the rotating speed controller. It allowed for hands free walking next to it, and a quick flick of the controller to stop it:)
You can walk hands free with the auto one too. Once you've got it going at your preferred waking pace you can let go & it'll carry until you pull back on the handle.

Again really helpful Rich (y)

Your boot looks pretty big? No issue at all with clubs and trolley, and the rest!

My old MC looks like it folds down much bigger and longer.
Yes, sorry. It's meaningless without context. It's a 5-Series saloon. Long but narrow.

I had the MK i for 13 years, it had all the obvious parts changed, battery, front wheel and bungy strap. I also had it altered from manual to automatic during a service halfway through my ownership. It is currently wandering around a golf course somewhere in Norfolk, I sold it on eBay.

Currently, I am the happy owner of a MK ii. They have improved the design of the front wheel so that it isn't so prone to clogging up with golf course debris, hopefully the bearings will be more durable.

As has been mentioned, they made it easier to remove the main wheels, utilising a single push button among the spokes. One of the biggest benefits of this is the ability to have them freewheel by not pushing them fully home. If anyone has had their battery run out and had to push one of these thing around the course, they will appreciate this little innovation.

Finally, the overall design is just so much better, how effortless it is to fold up and down and the ability to leave the battery in place.

The only negative I have is the issue of tipping over. I play on a hilly course where this is a potential issue, however I remain constantly alert to the possibility and just guard against it, so far so good.

I had ago kart for 15years and only changed to a motocaddy with down hill control as my course is quite hilly. DHC wasn't available at the time I changed.
I never had any problem with it tipping over.
Sold my old go-kart to one of the members and he is delighted with it!

A guy I played with last week in the comp had one of these.

Have to say the speed control technology is great, just push it to the speed you want.

Seems like going by the majority of experiences, the automatic speed is the way to go.

Or is it another thing that can go wrong further down the line?

I'm 99% sure I'll go for a GoKart, just deciding on auto or manual.

And hopefully it will last longer than my MC, I only got 4 years out of it.

Never had a problem with the automatic since I upgraded many years ago. I wouldn't go back.

Just make sure that your playing partners know how it works so that they don't push it out of their way with the handle and not notice it trundling away...

I learnt this lesson early on and had to rescue it just before it went into a bunker!

Really thinking about getting rid of my Motocaddy and getting a GoKart. The Motocaddy has a huge battery and I still have 2 green lights at the end of a round....so that's good. But jeez, the controller is sooooo annoying. Constantly having to adjust it to get the right speed, give the knob a little flick to go faster (or slower)...sometimes it moves sometimes you have to do it a few times, and then it may completely jump over the speed I'm after. No consistency at all. I think after 2 years the axle is squeaking a bit....I think I can fix that with a little patience and the removal of a million screws. I can't be bothered taking it in for a service...if I break it it gives me a good excuse to buy something else.

I never had a problem with my automatic for the 3 years I had it. I gave it to my mate 3 years ago, and he's not had a problem with it either.
Go for it.

Steadily trying to talk myself into the auto version and just sell my motocaddy. A question though....when using the motocaddy my "normal" speed is #5.....4 for slow walk and 6 to steadily catch up with someone. But....occasionally I want to get somewhere faster and crank it up to 8 or 9 and jog. How fast is the fastest that the auto (or manual) gokart will go?

I have a mk1, manual. You can see how fast on Friday (y). Full speed will certainly get you into a jog.
