GMac is having a howler!!!

He was +8 through 7! However, two birdies pulled him back to plus 6.

Weird thing is, although I was playing from much further forward, I played the front nine in +5 when I went to the 2010!

On the 5th, S.I. 1, I made a 3, Gmac 6!

Exactly why I love this game, anyone can have a great day, but equally anyone can have a horror.

P.S In no way do I think I am better than Gmac…! Just saying :o :o :o

Shame really, although it does put Peter Hanson in a good place…

Got a few bob on P. Hanson too! :) :)

My old man was talking Gmac up yesterday, how he was going to win easily and followed it up with a sizeable wager. His face was a picture after the 7th hole! :D

Tiger Woods moment here....he's playing like a ***,no chance of winning yet we have seen every single shot of his.

Have not heard anyone moaning about this fact yet tho....funny that.

Gmac will always have days like this, and he has done many times in the past. He's a "feel" player with a "quirky" swing. When his timing is very very slightly off,he struggles.

The commentators are saying he has played a very professional round and all shots have been given the same attention aye thats fair enough but he is playing bloody awful.

Not only is it awful but it is also boring to watch at least when tiger plays bad it is still exciting.

darts on 402 ;)

quick question, gmac was having his 8 as i walked past the tv in the clubhouse this avo, while he was trying to get the ball up on the green from the side and it kept rolling back down,
he played the shot and took a slight "divot" he knew straight away he had duffed at and casually and probably unintentionally hit his club a couple of times of the ground on his "divot" mark, all while the ball was rolling back down to where he had just played from. question is-is that not a penalty to do that??? improving the lie??
that could of course be a load of guff but im thinking i recall something like that happening before

I thought the same, and seem to remember Villegas doing something similar in America ? perhaps he was hoping to get dq'd to put him out of his misery. No doubt the rules experts on here will know the answer.

Glad I decided not to follow G-Mac today.

Decided to park up in the tented village and watch the players coming down the 18th.

Followed him around yesterday and he was great to watch.

Jamie Donaldson is doing very well and i'll be watching him tomorrow for sure!

Ash!!

Take your point there Dodger, but at least he's not smashing clubs in the ground, spitting, or looking like someone has taken a 7 iron to his gleaming new car!

Oops, where have I heard that before? :D :D

Golfmmad.

I'm sure that the tv mic caught him saying something that included "camillo" to his caddy at that time. Whether that was to do with the shot or that he had improved the lie I dunno?

I'm sure someone has already called or emailed in, McDowell might be grateful of a DQ at this point ;)

Fair play to G-Mac. I follow him on Twitter and he held his hands up to a cricket score today and that best thing to do was have a few beers. I say Drink up son and get back in the score zone tomorrow. Better screwing up today than doing it at US Open.

Am I being overly cynical or did he way over achieve last year. He was a decent pro before the US Open and Ryder cup heroics but not really one I'd have put inside the top 15 or so (think he got that high at one point) and that he's gone back to doing what he always had, having some decent finishes and some mediocre events. Am I alone in thinking that the equipment switch, purely done for filthy lucre, has actually held him back too.

He's 5th at the moment Martin, though i imagine he will drop back soon on current form. Not sure how the quality of the world top 10 now compares to say 10 or 20 years ago. Golf has a lot of good players, but without Tiger and Phil, not many that you would back to be multiple major winners.

You have a point there to be honest homer, but at the same time doing that much so well is no fluke!

His kit though certainly can't have helped with continuity. If something is going so well, to change it is ludicrous. Ok he gets more money, but not in prize money.

But fair play to his reaction, just move on and have a few beers.

Although, when I hit 81 round there I was over the moon!!!

Judging by today, it was nothing to do with his clubs, all to do with his swing. Radar said he was not completing his backswing, and Murray said he was getting the club stuck behind him. He did crunch one down the last though, and even out drove Tim Golfy and Science Boy. ;) ;)

I cannot comment on GMac's swing or game as I was not able to see any of it, but to be honest, I was surprised the scores for a few were so good yesterday. I was there for the first 3 days and the "breeze" was not very helpful for most holes in the valley. Yesterday the wind was gusting and caused havoc to most players cards. This coupled with really nasty cabbage 10 yds off the fairways made for the high scores we saw.

To give an example, Keith Horne (whos group I was with yesterday) hit a bad tee shot on 9, a par 5, it cost him an 8!! The wind took the ball into a water hazzard from which he could only drop in the cabbage - it took him 5 shots to get just past where a good drive would have got him.
