afternoon all

Many of you kindly responded to the short survey we ran a couple of months back to get some thoughts on the magazine and website.

I have just emailed 10 of the respondents drawn at random from all those who took the time to take part and give them the good news that they have won a dozen Srixon Z Star golf balls. I certainly recognised the names of few forum stalwarts among the 10. Thanks to all who took the time to respond. As I always say, we really value your feedback be it positive or critical.

On that note if anyone has any feeback on recent issues we'd really like to hear it...

What do you think of the subtly redesigned front cover and refreshed design inside the magazine?

Did you find the start of season guide (May issue) useful?
Have you been reading the new handicapping page?

Are you enjoying the 100 years of golf themed features we've been running this year?

Has anyone been downloading the iPad version of the magazine through Zinio?

What do you think of some of the recent interviews (Kaymer, Tiger, Calcavecchia, Faldo, Bubba Watson?

Have you read the new My Life in Golf series?

We're all ears!

Hi.
2 things!
1) i am currently reading the latest mag, and i think it is brilliant and GM is getting better and better, The thing i enjoy reading most, are equipment reviews, and behinds the ropes sort of things. Such as A day in the life of a pro, caddy etc...
2) I am one of the Lucky winners!!! :D i have never won anything ! :p
Would it be possible to post my balls to a bfpo address? It should be no extra cost??? If not i will get it sent to the grand parents! :p

Thankss!! :D

Woohoo!

Looking forward to the postie coming over the next few days! Great balls, still got 2 of the Centenary Member balls left. I'd not used the Z star before and have been really impressed with them, no discernible difference or spin off the driver than my usual ball and equally as soft feeling off the putter face!

I've found the 100 year articles fascinating, like the new layout of the mag too :)

I tend not to linger over the tips articles unless there is something addressing an element of my game I am struggling with. There are enough thoughts running round in my head without adding new ones! :D

Cheers for the new Z stars GM, will try to do them justice in the upcoming comps :)

Mike, would just like to say i loved the article on the british amateur and I really like the larger section on elite amateurs! A big thumbs up from me :)

Didn't win but didn't enter

Only had the mag on subscription for about half a year(bit more) but love it. The new format is great and the interviews are even better.

However I rarely read the handicap matters section and the 100 years of GM section is interesting but getting tiredsome

Just my opinion, don't slate too much

Still a great magazines

Mike, loving the new mag layout. The interviews have been interesting to read and the tips section has really helped my game. I'm not too bothered about the handicap page but I can see how it could be useful. Favourite bits have still got to be the columns with G-Mac, David Howell etc. Overall, Good job :D

Loving Radars column....again and also loving the wee mention of the finest Scratch Open in Northern Britain. ;)

Talking of which is Elwood waiting for payday until he sends of his entry?

Seriously though Mike,I think that proposed article will be of great interest to many an Amateur golfer.

Aye, things are bad when the demon drink starts to affect your golfing plans like that Dodger.

Orange squash from now on is it ;)

At least during the season ;)

Hi Mike...I switched from a paper subscription to the iPad version through Zinio about 8 months ago. It works really well for me, and the recent changes to add video etc right into the mag are great. The only problem I have seen has been that it is sometimes a bit slow to appear, but i'll renew, and think it's better than the paper mag for me...(although not sure i have found the videos in this months mag yet!)

Happy to answer any other questions about it if you need some feedback.

I'm liking the redesign, in the past I've found that magazines go for a massive overhaul and you either love it or hate it. Perhaps a more subtle step wise evolution is a better long term plan when changing layout. Won't put many off and may get you new readers.

I've been reading the new handicap page but not really found it that useful. I suspect club secs may like it but the regular golfer on the course?..

I've liked the interviews and I think the centenary events going on in the magazine and that are being organised are a great celebration of this milestone.

Sadly don't have an iPad but if the next comp gives on away maybe I'll win this time! :)

I may be here under false pretences as Ive never seen your magazine, or if I have then I havent purchased it. Nor would I. The days have passed when paying a fiver or so for a periodical of adverts with some "how to fix your slice" articles are long past, apart from whiling away a few mins while in the dentists waiting room. The net provides this and much, much more effectively for free. And it is current up to date minutes after an event, not a magazine put together 3 months before an event. I mean no disrespect to your own periodical, and am grateful that you provide a golf forum for people to discuss the many aspects of this great game, but its a bit like asking the mammals what they think about dinosaurs.

Mongoose I think you should give the mag a try. When you subscribe that cover price is massively reduced but more importantly the articles are more reflections on all things golf rather than an account of what happened. Take Bill Elliott's pieces this month on golf coverage in newspapers and McIlroys Masters. The former an inciteful read the later an interesting perspective of an event. Neither felt dated.

Mike I'm toying with the idea of getting an iPad but not sure if I'm ready to make that leap into consuming a periodical or book in that format. I look at a computer screen most days for work so a break from that is actually welcome relief.

I think the magazine is better this year primarily because of the 100 years of golf articles. With the exception of Jez's piece last year on club making I think all of the articles have been a more entertaining/interesting read than the pieces they replaced. How you build on this next year without the hook I'm not sure.

The calibre of your interviewees has been quite simply brilliant with only a handful of the top ten missing. I'd still like you to be a little more intrusive but having Westwood, Kaymer, Woods, G-Mac back to back is brilliant. If you've got Donald and McIlroy up your sleeve you all deserve knighthoods, well at least a bonus!

One thing I think you could build on is analysis of the tour stats supported by tips from leading professionals. Jez did a great piece on distance and success a while back and found that length of the tee wasn't a decisive factor. I've been trying to stick to Padraig's Harrington's 20mins short game practice a day tip. Although the ongoing work on my full swing is a hindrance I have been scoring much better.

All in all I think you are definitely making very positive progress. :D

Received the first issue of my subscription and am very impressed. I particularly like reading the thoughts of the current game leaders - not football style "what is your favourite pop group", but meaningful "this is how I play the game/this is my opinion." Articles like this are timeless and not readily available elsewhere.

I would definitely recommend.
