never put my name in for any of them, unfortunatley the travelling required is a killer for me.

If there were a prize for the person who lived the furthest from any GM fitting I reckon you would be in with a shout![]()
Only one I have put my name down recently for was the Mizuno one. I play their irons so seemed qualified. Don't bother with ones for clubs I don't like, or don't need. Probably accounts for never getting picked.![]()
It has to be specific only- not only is there commitment from GM but you have to commit to being there and representing the Magazine and any supplier well.

I think that this is a good point that is often missed. There is a responsibility attached to these opportunities that can often be missed. These opportunities are, at their basest level, a marketing tool and it can easily be forgotten that there is a tacit agreement when you volunteer to go on these things.
At the bare minimum there should be a comprehensive write up on the forum but more than that there should be ongoing support for the manufacturer that has kitted someone out for free. Look at the lot who went to TM a couple of years ago (Rooter, Gibbo etc). They still plug TM on here and on Twitter and still talk about that opportunity. Not many can say that. These are not prizes that people have won, they are opportunities that people have been given and I feel that they should be treated as such.
Beyond that, I think that the unsaid rule is that you either say nice things about what you were fitted for or say nothing at all. How does it look to a company who has given their time and product for free to see people stating that it does not suit or they are looking to change back to their old gear or questioning whether they were fitted for the right shaft etc. Worst of all are those that come on here or are very unsubtle about the fact that they are selling on the gear they were given. There should be more people like Aztecs who found that his driver did not suit anymore so he gave it away free on the forum for someone else to try.
Sorry if this comes across as a bitter but I have seen many people go on these opportunities over the years and I sometimes think it needs to be said that they represent a degree of commitment on both sides and not just a chance for free kit.
It would be interesting to hear how many forumers that have gone on club fitting days, actually still use the clubs. Hopefully if they do not like the clubs they will offer them to the forum, or even let us sell them for Help For Heroes.:thup:maybe the manufacturers wanted non Mizzie players so they can show the benefits of switching! you'll never know I suppose, depends what the manufacturer wants to gain from providing free sets
There's never a northern isles fitting, I've noticed that!

Where is the like button?
I enter those that interest me, but I also look at the time and date of the events, working nights makes it nigh on impossible to travel for a 9am start, I have all my leave booked for the next 12 months so would apply if the event started early afternooon as I can get a driver to take me.
I'm awaiting a ball fitting, preferbly Wilson Staff (as that's my current choice), or a shoe/clothing combo
