Option 1 for August, however a possible change of job may preclude any attempt to attend this one I'm afraid. I'll know within the next month.

afternoon all

as I mentioned a few weeks ago we have been negotiating with the Belfry to set up a GM forum/reader event this summer

The idea is for there to be two options. Option 1 for those who want to play 36 and stay overnight and Option 2 for those who want to just do it there and back in a day and play 18 holes

The prices and dates we have been offered are as follows...

Option 1: 18 holes on the PGA National on afternoon of day 1, B&B at hotel, 18 holes on The Brabazon on morning of day 2 = £195.

Option 2: 18 holes on the Brabazon on morning of day 2 = £95

The two options we have for dates are....
Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd July
Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th August

I'm sure you'll agree those prices represent a very good deal and in discount terms option 1 is a c25% saving on what they'd normally charge and Option 2 (a round on the Brabazon in the height of summer) is a c30% discount on the usual green fee

Can I put it out to the forum for comments, preferred dates, idea of how many would be in for option 1 and how many for option 2

thanks

Apparently there are several days during this year when the Belfry will be doing shotgun starts on the Brabazon for £50. Now that is good value.

That said, £95 is a lot better value than the usual price, but not sure I'd want to pay that, even though I'm just down, or should i say, up the road the 2 rounds & an overnight stay sounds to me much better value, though even that I have seen cheaper on their offers page from time to time.

Left my diary at work this week, though I really don't think I could afford it this year, I've got enough on as it is, costing me more than I can affordto lay out, including the fact my sister gets married in the summer & although not checked the dates, those dates do look suprisingly familiar.

Mind you you never know the missus might win us the lottery, these new anualised hours might pay more than we think, or I might be offered a better job with more pay (I wish...!)

Must say I'd like to go though

I'd be up for option 1, either date. I'll start saving now!

Any Scottish lads want to care share?

I'm a caring sort of guy John, So we'll get something arranged when we know dates etc.

Definitely option 1 for me. Not going all that way for 1 round.
Both dates are rubbish for me so no preference.

As she said when Clarkson met her at a party and said "Hi I do Top Gear" and she questioned whether he was trying to sell her drugs.......allegedly

Mike, Option 2, is that based on 2 people sharing a room(like the winter offer) or is that for your own room?

Option 1 in August would be the choice for me Mike, as I have already booked that week off work oddly enough!
Would there be the option of paying a supplement so that our non-golfing other halves could attend?

Not a bad idea Smiffy, would certainly make my getting a 2 day pass easier if my wife could make use of the other facilities.
Have taken a gamble and booked that week off as well. Have taken the whole week off so may be able to get a round or 2 in at other local courses with Forumers if anyone around. Could even sort a round out a my course later in the week but is about an hour and a half away.

Mike.

Was the rate for the rooms as single occupancy or twin / double?

I was also talking with midnight on the way home from Ascot yesterday about the WAGs going to use the spa facilities etc. But we came to the same conclusion that the vening might just be to boring for them. At least we (the forumers) have something in common. Well I guess the WAGs have to put up with our 'obsession' and that's the common denominator for them. Jurys out on the WAG issue for me. The thought is nice though.
