I wear Footjoy Weathersoft GTXs. They last about 6 months. They wearout on the rightside of my palm (lefthand) which according to 'Todays Golfer' (can i say that???) means i'm holding the club too far up the grip. Tut.

I've worn Weathersof for so about ten years now. One tends to last me about 3 months and they wear first on the thumb.

If your right handed do you mean your left thumb. thats where mine wheres First!
Your three small fingers on your left hand should predominantly be holding your club and the thumb just supporting! What ive found(it feels weird at first) Is if you practice (akes a while) swinging the club with lighter thumb pressure it releases tons of tension in the arms and hands and shoulders.... It will help release the clubhead through impact! If you hold on too tight with your thumb i gaurantee it will get worse as your round progresses especially if its a bad round. Hense you will staring hitting shots right or losing consistency. Give it a try next time your at the range!!!

I wear the Footjoy SciFlex, I love the feel of the material and grip it gives me I also like mine as tight as possible around my hand.
Use to use the GTX until I forgot my gloves and had to buy a new one at the range a few monts ago, no way am i going back.

Always cabretta leather, always white, whomever has the best deal online gets my business. I also have a Footjoy rainglove which is tackier when wet.

What model footjoy is it Birieman? I have a constant battle with grip on my clubs so anything like that would help.

'Footjoy raingrip extreme' I think. Normally I carry 3 normal gloves and a rain glove. The rain glove only goes on when the other 3 are damp, they do work quite well surprisingly, I take glove off to putt so that can be difficult when hands are wet.
It's amazing what a few sandwich bags will do to help you keep gear dry.
Absolutley key you have grips in very good condition, any sign of shinyness get them replaced. I do it myself and it is very easy. A stanley knife, sticky strips and solvent and a bit of elbow grease!

Usually footjoy gloves of some description, usually the softer the better, I tried one of the weather ones and they were just too thick. If anywhere mine start to wear towards the bottom of my palm (follow the baby finger, same line around 2 inches in) It used to be worse but Ive lightened my grip so much in the last year, im barely even holding onto it these days. My thumbs and index fingers dont play so much a big part any more at all, they rest more than press.

Give your grips a good clean with soapy water gives them a bit more tack and if you suffer from sweaty palms in the summer there are sports grip liquids that dry in your hand and stop the sweat.
Don't know if it would be legal in a comp though, but they are not a glue so to speak more like an antiperspirant for your hands if that makes sense.

Yes, MVP, that's exactly where I mean. Although it has to be said it's not huge wear and I do keep my glove a long time! I know what you mean about pressure increasing as you practice. It's an insiduous thing if you're not aware of it, isn't it?

Chuck Quinton talks about a pinkie grip, which is quite different. You simply focus on gripping the club more with the little finger of the left hand. This activates different muscles in the arms and leads to less tension. It feels a little wierd but worth trying. :)

I usually use one of the many synthetic gloves with the extra padding on the palm. I also tend to grip my club too far up the grip (according to Todays Golfer) and find I get a little longer life with the extra padding.

That said, if I'm playing in a big comp or a club match I do have some SciFlex that I use (different colours to match my kit). I'm afraid the colour has to match. I only tend to wear black/white (black trouser, white top) blue/white or all blue and green so the gloves have to co-ordinate.

I also have one of the Footjoy wet weather gloves that get tackier and grip better the wetter they get. Unlie other posters I tend to put that on as soon as the rain gets going.

I always carry a minimum of 2 gloves + the wet weather glove which just lives in my bag
