Glove or no glove?

Anyone know what the purpose of the right hand (left if you're a lefty) golf glove is? Don't just say to give you a better grip as if that was the case we would all be wearing 2 gloves.

No glove seems to work for only a few pro's, Freddy Couples is prob the most famous, and every golfer in the 30's and 40's

Dont see the point in a glove myself, get a lot more feel without one, hence the reason most pros remove thier glove for shots around the green.
Also, Ben Hogan and Moe Norman, the best ball strikers of all time, neither wore a glove.

I used to wear two gloves because, as I am sure you would like to know, I am a very sweaty man and used to find it helped me mentally as I wasnt worried about the club slipping out of my hands. I first tried it when it was raining and I had on two rain gloves, played really well and decided to do it the whole time! It does make it amost impossible to not have a strong right hand grip though...

I don't understand how anyone can play without a glove though, I really don't.

Ironically Lucas Glover is one of the tour players who doesn't wear one. :)

Tend to use them as a pair when I do use them as it just seems odd having a different feel with each hand. Use them a lot for practice as my fingers are prone to splitting, when playing rarely use them unless its hot or my hands are sore.

I think I read somewhere that 'Two Gloves' Tommy Gainey wear's two because he used to play Baseball to quite a high level and could not adjust?

The only time I give up on a glove is when it rains as they are next to useless I find.

I've never played with a glove, and I cant understand why
people do,A guy who I sometimes play with always makes some
comment"why are'nt youwearing a glove" as though Im not gonna be able to play properley..

I'm with the other psoter who says it feels wrong not having a glove on. I don't know if it gives me more grip but there has to be something in it or the top guys wouldn't bother. It can't all be down to force of habit

.....top guys like Hogan and Couples to name 2, it is rare though on the tour and with people who play a lot.

Reason is that for right handed players your left hand is usually weaker and it's a simple way of trying to equalise the grip pressure without just squeezing harder with the left, also the left hand left ungloved is prone to friction burns/blisters with excess movement.
