And how many of those booing were around back then? Or know the reasons?

Probably not many. But boo cos it’s the in thing la.

There will be plenty in the ground who were around and also plenty who’s family , friends etc affected by actions and consequences of the establishment over the decades. The feeling still runs very deep in the city

I kinda get where you’re coming from but it’s like blaming the U.K. for acts of slavery. It’s yesterday‘s news. Whilst someone is carrying that hate, there’s a part of their life thats getting in the way of living. Yes, there were massive injustices in so many different areas of life but move on.

Back in the 70’s there were almost 80,000 working in ICI, British Steel & ship building. There might be 2,000 working on parts of the old ICI site today. It’s done, it’s gone… why carry the pain? Get on with enjoying life.

For some the pain is still there and will be for a long time - lives were lost and that pain will be felt by the families for a long time and until someone is actually held accountable for some of the things then people won’t move on

For 20 plus years people told the families to move on when it came to Hillsborough and they didn’t and for good reason.

It will never be just yesterdays news for many in the city

And the 97 should never be forgotten, and someone should be held accountable. Does booing the national anthem further the case, or does it paint L’pool in a bad light? I will always support L’pool’s fight for justice but only in terms of them doing the right thing to achieve it.

Are the Just Stop Oil protesters doing the right thing by obstructing traffic or throwing orange dye on a snooker table? There is a right way to protest, and there is a way that harms the cause.

Particularly in the suppression of protest today, quite dystopian really.
There’s protesting and there’s protesting, gluing yourself to the road to stop ambulances getting to people who have had heart attacks is not protesting it’s mindless anarchy. But I am bright enough to know I am wasting my breath.

That’s their choice to how they want to voice their displeasure and it’s that mentality that got people to wake up to finding out the truth. The FA etc knew what would happen if they told the clubs to play the anthem , it didn’t need to be played at the ground and the media were already making it a story before today.

I'd probably agree with that but I'm talking about today's arrests. None of the above happened - why would you make that up? People were arrested simply for possessing anti-monarchy placards. In the UK.

Could the club have refused to play it?
Let’s be honest, the fans would have been gutted to miss a chance to boo & milk it.

But it’s not made up Kaz, these things have happened along with vandalism of art, smashing up petrol stations. Who knows what these people will or would have done. Six people have been arrested. Who will lose sleep tonight.

Well I enjoyed what I saw of it, and I shouted God save the King at the relevant moment.
…and as I thought that I might do, at the appropriate point during the coronation service I recited my Scout Promise and whilst doing so I made the Scout salute. I knew that remembering it from about 55yrs ago would come in handy some day. Besides I rather do believe it and try and live it as best I can…which is admittedly pretty rubbish much of the time. Did I feel silly? Maybe a little bit…but that aside it felt a not inappropriate thing for me to do.

Quite…resentments and bitterness can tear apart both heart and soul.

It’s easier to blame

For some, it’s easier to blame events of the past, even if they weren’t born for the position they find themselves in their lives. Than it is step up and put the effort in to changing your situation.

I have first hand experience of people that do this in my family.

With regards to Liverpool and their reaction to the coronation, plus a lot of people on her about how it’s costing a lot of money….. what’s the forums opinion about Eurovision? Especially for how much that costs with little or no return.

I can only reiterate I was commenting on todays arrests which were not for any of those things.

Time and place Kaz. If folk object to the Coronation, why go? Why run the risk of someone doing something disruptive, or dangerous. Clear them away and let Joe Public enjoy the event.
Seems a dangerous road to go down to be honest.

Arresting people for dissent, suggesting people who disagree with something should leave the country rather than try to change it…

I’m fairly ambivalent about the monarchy myself, even watched some of it today, but really concerned by these developments.
