Get yer willie oot!

I have to say that I'm very impressed by the carry distances you guys get with your clubs.

My distances are probably at least 20% less than yours - but there again I've only got an 9" willie to measure with

;) ;)

I am probably one or two clubs more than you guys, I would think my four iron is around you 5/6 carry.(and I think I'm quite long! Dream on!)

However, my one and only hole in one was 195 yards with a NINE iron - fully recorded by playing partners and reported in the press. It was downhill but did land on the green and fell into the hole! Magic!

Raw meat or what!

m not sure on my driver carry, hopefully just one or smiffy will help here, but irons are pretty much the same.

You hit a good few really biggish ones yesterday, you are a big lad and get all your weight behind it.
I would guess on your bigger drives you were carrying about 230ish, on firmer fairways they would roll out to about 260 or thereabouts.
You do hit it high though
;) ;) ;)

Cheers mr smiffy, I did notice yesterday my driver height was higher than normal by about 25%, hence the drop and stop, but considering the height of my early round drives I'm was stocked. Need to experiment with Moving the ball in my stance and tee heights to get more roll

Not being funny, I think it may have had something to do with the mats. No disrespect to Bratty as he didn't put them down on his course, but they have to go down as some of the worst mats I have ever played off so far as trying to get a tee peg down into them was concerned. A couple of times I thought Paul was going to give up and blob the hole because of the trouble he was having!
When you knocked it off of the grass tees you didn't seem to hit it so high, so I would just put it down to "one of those days".
But as I say, you do hit a lovely ball.

More to do with lack of leverage on soggy ground than anything to do with your swing. Yesterday was a day for 3" spikes!

I guess mine would come out around these figures for carry only

Driver 225
3 wood 205
5 wood 200
3 hybrid 180
4 iron 165
5 iron 155
6 iron 145
7 iron 135
8 iron 125
9 iron 110
PW 95
52 degree 75
58 degree 50

These are all pitching distances and so you can probably allow another 5 yards roll out at the moment. I've never confessed to being a big hitter and would prefer straight and short rather than long and wild. Sadly I can't even manage that most days

You have some strange distances Homer. Your lob wedge is in danger of blowing back over your head in a breeze
Your 5 wood and 3 wood are 5 yards apart ? Do you need both ?

No sure and dinny care as long as the shot I play hits the green, but would guess I am generally about 5 yards or so behind you Craw.

Don't know if that makes you long, average or SHORT though. ;) :p

I have tried dropping one of the woods and usually leave the 3 out in the summer and change the wedges to a 52, 56 and 60 set up. However there are some of the longer par 3's that I can't quite make with the 5 wood but can make with an easy 3. The 5 wood is ideal on a couple of holes for positional shots.

Bit unfair about the 58 wedge distance. I was always told to never hit a wedge at more than 3/4 length and so 50 is the landing area. I can get more with a fuller swing but why worry when I could hit an easy 52 and grip down to go 60 yards or I could play a lower checking shot anyway

I fold mine in half for NO-ONE !! :D

Personally i would always rather hit a full shot, than a three quarter one. I try and lay up to approximately 100 yards, as i know from 50/60 yards i am more likely to hit Shergar than the green

I would say i drive the ball maybe 235 - 240.

Then the rest i hit them around about the distance to the pin and then make birdie ;)

You must be slacking, the last time I was talking to you, you were celebrating a hole in one! Do you remember??? :D

Remember the hole in 1 yes :D

Remember talking to you about it, yes but its blurred ;)
