Gapping in your wedges

I swop my wedges depending on conditions and sometimes notions.

Gap 51

Sand 56. Either 10/14 bounce. 14 goes in all winter except the odd links game.

Lob 60 mostly its been 11 bounce all year but sometimes put in the 8 which was my lob for years.


If I know the ground is soft it will be high bounce all the way. You want to see the earth I can move with a low bounce 60. Crazy

My PW is 45 degrees, standard wedge included in my Apex CF16 irons. In addition I carry a two IC Golf custom ground wedges, a 52 degree with a double bounce grind, and a 58 degree with a tripple bounce grind. the custom grinds allow me to play any shot from 100yds or so to fringe, and anything from full to flop to bunker. My IC wedges are 3 years old now, was up with Iain last night having them refinished, walked away with two brand new looking wedges ready for the new season.

I use the PW for most pitch & chip shots from 1 yard to 90 and the SW for getting out of bunkers (although I am a high handicapper so maybe one day I'll be good enough player to carry three)

(I do sometime use the PW in bunkers too if its a long carry)
