Played on Sunday in a friendly 2 ball purely for a bit of practice. Went out for the front 9 hitting a 49 and feeling a little let down by my performance although my best on my front 9 is 45 (35 par). Anyway played the back 9 and managed a 38 , 3 over par! Granted the back 9 is a little easier but with a HC of 20 i was made up. Oh for a bit of consistency!

Just wondered what the biggest difference is in terms of scores (stokeplay) that you have had between the front and back 9?

Last week I went out in 41 (6 over) but came back in 52 (16 over). Must be something to do with our handicaps!!(I am 21)

Yep totally agree, i know that if i could finish the front 9 consistently with a half decent score, 42 - 45 on a more regular basis then my HC would tumble. I play the front 9 on its own very often, usually if i can get away from work on a Friday at a decent time but still can`t seem to master it.

Hmmm ....... Consistency - my impossible dream!! :D
I take it from your user name you play up in the North East somewhere?

In a medal last year I went out in 60 (par 37) and back in 40 (par 34) for the first ton-up since I got my handicap in '93.
And that was playing off 11.............

I played a stableford and was 2 under par gross after 4 and finished the front 9 at plus one for 23 points and was still two behind a 28 handicapper who'd gone out in plus 3. Sadly I got a nosebleed from such rarified air and came back in 15 points.

Conversely I played another where I struggled to the turn in 43 (+8 gross) and hitting poorly and then played the last six holes in level par to finish 11 over. Its a stupid game!!!

First ever medal a month ago, out in 61, back in 43 - couldn't NR because I scored a 2 on the last hole to get a share of the 2's comp! Fairly low down the leaderboard even off 23 :-(

first card for handicap' went round with the handicap sec and his mate.
I arrived on the 10th tee and was about to tee off when the mate said "you're 6 over (40), keep that up and you'll be off 12."
I promptly went to pieces and shot 63 on the back.
