Has anyone treid the new G25 driver yet? I have the G15 in the bag and could be talked into upgrading but my head is telling me that it's wrong. The 'it' being the adjustable bit. The pro shop is telling me that the amount by which it can be adjusted is so small it'll make no difference. And, the adjustment is only on the loft none on the lie. I can easily convince myself that I deserve a new driver but I'm struggling to convince myself that the G25 adjustment bit is not simply a gimmick i.e. someone at Ping has decided that they need to get on the bandwagon but know that this bandwagon is a gimmick so don't fully commit to it!

I have a G20 that I bought just over a year ago. Without doubt one of the best purchases I have ever made. The shop owner, didn't even bother to try and sell me an adjustable driver, even he doesn't buy into them and reckons it is just a gimmick. I can adjust my setup to hit a draw or fade, so see little point in having an adjustable. Personally, if anyone is looking to the the adjustment to correct a swing flaw, I would spend the money on lessons to fix the swing, that would be better value long term.

Nice bat, in my opinion there is very very little or no difference shape wise compared to the G20. Yes its now black and adjustable but very similar in my opinion. My G20 will survive a while longer.

I gave it a rip after my lesson the other day on the launch monitor. Ripped it 285 then 289 then pull pull pull...

My over riding feeling was that it had no feel and was very hard off the face.

That's funny. Just been hitting the G25, Covert and the R1 at lunchtime and I was pulling the G25 as well

Just by eyeballing probably hit the R1 furthest. G25 probably had the best dispersion, even though most were pulled. Covert I sprayed about a bit, although out of all of them it won on the looks front.

All were noticeable much louder than my current 910D2.

Crackin' bat by all accounts but I'm not keen on the elongated head, much prefer the shape of the g10 & g15. Saying all that, I havnt hit it yet.

Hoping to give it and the Anser a bash on Saturday. Been eyeing drivers since last year and a lot to get my teeth into although Ping are top of the list with Nike and the TM offerings following. So many good reviews saying the G25 is easy to hit. Obviously haven't seen my swing

First G driver to be priced at £249 as they are usually £189-199.

Brings it very close to the Anser price. I have not hit the Anser but I believe it has a better shaft in it off the rack.

Also of note is that the G25 has a regular, regular stiff and stiff shaft option.

Ok I am boring myself now...

I was reading in a mag today that the Driver comes in lofts of 9.5, 10.5 and some others. However the loft can only be altered 0.5 up or down. Doesn't seem worth it. I haven't hit it but would look at it along with R1, Nike Covert, Callaway Extreme Razr Fit, Titleist D whatever and a Mizuno. Oh and Cobra think that covers everything :)

The truth is that once golfers have been fitted for a driver, very few ever tweak it at all. If the fitting has been done right in the first place then you only need a tiny adjustment if any at all. Read somewhere that Ping's system was designed to not increase the weight in the hosel area over G20, as this is where manufacturers worked for years to take weight away from. Some of the offerings giving a lot more adjustment options that are never used and add a lot of weight into the hosel which is a step backwards in club design.
