Funniest marker

Has anyone got any funny stories relating to moving your ball marker away from the line of your playing partner/s putt. On one of our golfing trips a mate lined his ball marker up with a magpie - yes, it flew off. We were all in stitches, and we have never let him forget it.

I lost a hole in matchplay once when I tapped my marker down with my putter in the rain.

I went to replace my ball and couldn't find the marker anywhere. Yes it had stuck to the sole of my putter. I didn't really know the rule so I just gave him the hole. Thankfully I went on to win but I've never done that again and I cringe when I see others doing it.

In an interclub matchplay match I managed to move my marker and forgot to remark, there was a bloody crowd stood watching (we were at home) and not one of them noticed, only the captain of their team who never said anything and it dawned on me while walking to the next teebox. I let the other guy know who said he thought something had happened but couldnt put his finger on it.
I was a couple down after nine and won the tenth, this happened on the eleventh and I never got back on even terms afterwards. It was the only matchplay game I lost last year out of 10 games so not too unhappy just disappointed with myself.

I didn't know that! just out of interest how do you know where to put the marker back? is it mutual agreement?

Yes, no penalty if the marker is moved in the act of marking the ball.
You have to come to a gentlemans agreement to where it was.
