Freddie Flintoff Fight

PS. When they took his headguard off for the first time in sparring I winced as he did look so vulnerable. Yet he stepped up to the mark and got stuck in good and proper!

Kinda reminds me of the Comic Relief boxing matches with Ricky Gervais lots of flailing arms and intent but not too much happening, more of a playground fight than a boxing match. I do not hold with the 'At least he had the Kahuna's to give it a go' brigade. A boxing ring is no place for the untrained he could get himself hurt badly if he meets someone with a bit of skill next time.
I once read an article on just what amount of damage someone with the power of Mike Tyson could inflict on an untrained body it was frightening.

It was hardly a knockdown, it was poor of a slip and push.

Who cares guy has balls boxing and boxing a guy who has at least fought before.

The points ahold have been 38 - 37, but who is counting

The knockdown was a peach of a short left cross from Dawson, not a slip or push.Flintoff did well to gather his sense's so quickly.
Hats off to him for having the balls to get in the ring, but i hope this is a one off.
As Fish has pointed out, fights are scored on a 10 point "must" system, meaning the winner of the round always get's 10,and the loser 9,unless the round is very one sided or involes a knockdown, which would then make it a 10-8 round.

Flintoff is not the first sportman to try and have a go at another sport. Apparently Fernando Torres has been trying his hand at scoring a goal in football.

I know, coat, fetch, leave.

My opinion is its a sportman doing sport, if he turned his hand to professional golf it would have got far less coverage... I think its been blown out of proportion by the media and to promote the TV show.

Really someone changing sports should not get this kind of attention.

The opponent was a complete joke and so was the whole circus that surrounded the fight... But I admire Freddie as I know first hand how it feels to get in the ring for the first time and WIN 😉 ha ha

He won't go far in the pro game though, no chance!!!

Watched the highlights. If the opponent had anything about him he'd have been taken apart. Looked like two pub brawlers and no technique from either. I assume now he's done the doucmentary and had the fight that will be it. Any half decent boxer will be Flintoff with ease. Credit I guess for getting to a level to get the pro licence and for getting the win but cant see any future in him fighting on

Well I admit to knowing next to nothing about boxing - not a sport that particularly appeals to me. However, I surprised myself by watching the reality show and getting drawn into it. I found it quite inspirational - the effort he put in to get into shape (and he is in great shape now) was amazing. It's currently helping to motivate me drag my fat butt to the gym three times a week!

Can't really comment on the boxing but I don't imagine that any first tie boxer gets into the ring with serious championship challengers - you've got to start somewhere. I guess the problem many people have is that such fights would never normally be on the telly but this wasn't really aimed at serious fight fans - I watched it and have greater respect for boxers and boxing than I did.

OK, I haven't seen the fight, presumably it'll be in the next episode of the show.
