How does it work at your place ?

We all rock up and then balls in the bag, either pairs , 2 from 3 or 2 from 4 with £2 in the pot per person and 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes depending on numbers.
As always pairs there is no adjustments of winners handicaps. Do you adjust ?

Individual and team

£2 in the pot

Individual takes half and a .3 cut plus any adjustment better than HC

Team - all scores to count ( if there is 3 3balls and a 4ball then one from the 4 ball drops out )

Is that drop out as in not playing or play but cant take part in roll up ?

When we have odd numbers , say playing pairs we have fourballs then the 3 ball/s will play as two pairs the high handicapper as the base man so two chances.

At a previous club it the fiddle I was in was ran alongside the club comp. If it was a singles comp, it was whoever from our group who scored best in that, same for team comps. We drew the names the previous Saturday, and quite a few of us would go down on the Wednesday to get the names down.

£3 in, on top of the comp entry fee, with £1 each going on food, e.g. a platter of sandwiches and chips. The balance went to first and second.

Teams of 4 - best 2 to count stableford - off 3/4 handicap.

£3 in pot covering team prize & 2's pool.

If an odd number show up a number of 3's play using full handicap plus 2 extra shots - 2 out of 3 still.

Draw made by players name on playing cards - sorted into handicap categories then shuffled & dealt to ensure a good mix of handicaps per team.

Individual £5 per person, winner takes all but has to buy the first round.

If numbers mean we are 4balls then we'll also have 4ball match play on top. £5 match, 50p birdies and oozlums.

Roll up on Sunday is singles stableford, balls go in the bag, if four balls then we throw them up again on the tee for pairs and play matchplay with the losing pair putting the £2 per man in for the winners.

winning stableford score wins the pot, if 40 points or more gets cut 2 shots. If due to numbers we have a 3-ball so then we'll play skins, the person in 2nd will put his own £2 in but the loser in 3rd puts in the winners £2 also.

Normal swindle is £5 in. £1 front, £1 back and £1 overall, then 50p nearest the pin on each par 3.
If a fourball, then they'll throw balls up again for pairs and they sort own bet out. Usually £1 front, £1 back, £1 overall match play

Teams of 4 at my place, played off scratch. We play in sets of 6 holes and go best 2 scores on the first 6 holes, best 3 in the middle section and all 4 to count on the last 6. All the players get put on a list in handicap order then the list is divided into 4 divisions A,B,C,D and each team is then made up with 1 player from each division.

Within the 4 man comp there is also a prize for the best 18 holes, this is for the best A&B better ball and the best C&D team better ball.

We put in $20 a man so sometimes the prize pot can be up near the $1000 mark. That is split between the best 18 holes, each set of 6 holes, then the better ball for for the best A&B and C&D better ball 18 holes.

playing on Sunday mornings;

in the winter we play stableford, 1 shot cut for the winner with no increases until the main tees are back in play. £1 for the score and 50p for ntp. If ntp isn't won then the monies go into the charity box which runs from April to April.

last year from April until October we played an eclectic stableford, a N/R on any hole was worth 10 shots, best medal score on each hole counted and the winner had the lowest combined medal round. £1 for winner of the day (s/f), 50p for ntp and 50p for the eclectic, the eclectic prize pot was £110 in total.

We also choose a local charity and pay 10p for any blobs or bunkers, and if any player scores less than 10pts from either front or back 9 then 50p is charged, so far £240 in the charity box

Individual and team. Depends on numbers but if we're a mixture of threes and fours, then we'll have a team prize for both. On Saturday's its normally money for the first two but we have a rule, one tie all tie and the money usually goes towards lottery tickets (and those winnings stashed for a Christmas comp). On Sunday's no team prize but winner takes all but then has to use the winnings to but a round for everyone. We have a bitch (last place) who has to wear a "best bitch" dog rosette and gets all the drink order for the winner. Most people are more concerned with not coming last than winning

Ours is individual normally in 3 or 4 balls. You start out at club handicap and get cut 2 for winning, or 1 for a front or back 9 win. The most you can be cut is 3 in one day. Handicaps reset when the whites come out, then when the whites go away and we go back to yellows

At WP it is always individual stableford but at Enville we split the players into the best even team split - 16 would be 4 x 4 or 15 = 5 x 3 players or 17 = 3x 3 players and 2x 4 players.

We always take the highest handicappers and put one in each team for balance.

If three balls it is 2 from 3. If fours - 3 from four. If a mix, we go 2 from 3 for the three balls and then select a letter to start on(A to D)and remove a score per hole starting at the selected letter on hole one and going diagonally - A to B to C to D. Then 2 from 3 for the remaining scores.

Wowser that sounds complicated. We simply put balls in a bag and have a random draw off club handicaps. How long does it take to do the cards after?

Pretty much the same (without all the complications around pairs and skins!)

Distribution is by a matrix depending on number of entries, all entries, scores and payouts are maintained in a book (available to the handicap committee if interested!)

Our group does best individual Stableford score and the best 2 from 3, or 3 from 4 for the team score. If the teams are not the same size, we use the average scores. We do allow gimmes btw, but they have to be less than a putter shaft length below the grip.
