Looks like Stevie Williams likes winning at Firestone too.

Adam Scott by 4 - Williams must have made a difference.

Or was it the putter? will we finally see a Major won with a Broom?

I'm reading that Williams was interviewed? WTF?! Way to take away from Scott's win CBS! Ridiculous.

And if you had heard the interview you would have thought that he had hit every shot himself

Yes, I had to keep saying to swmbo that he "carried the bag" after he said "that's his umpteenth win" and "he's only there to win" and "whether it's golf or racing I'm a good front runner"
He's starting to believe his own hype.

The whole coverage was more about Williams than it was Scott. Everytime Scott was shown it was Williams this\Williams that. The media clearly wanted the story and they got it. Interviewing the caddie though? That's just ridiculous.

In a way he's got a point.
145 wins including 13 Majors as a caddy. Ok he doesn't hit the shots but how many of us really know exactly what a caddy does in the modern Pro game.
He's highly influencial, more so than many Pros, and he has to be the most sucessful caddy - or pretty close.
He may a bit of an ar$e but you can't argue with sucess.

Hmmm. Not sure about that Williams interview. OK so Tiger dumped him. OK he's bitter. But no one would have heard of Steve Williams and he would have earned only a fraction of what he has done if he hadn't been Tiger's caddie for a dozen years. Woods made him into a millionaire. Like others say he seems to think he's the one that wins the tournaments. A bit of humility wouldn't go astray.

Once Tiger announced he was going to play it was always going to be the story of how he did against Scott with Williams, no surprises there then ..........

I see Scott acknowledged Williams for his experience around Bridgestone , lets hope it the start of some great SH wins

My respect for Stevie has increased a bit this weekend.

He stood by Tiger while Tiger was being a complete arse, kept quiet about all that he knows (which will be plenty) and even had a long period where Tiger was not playing at all, hence he was not earning, and then Tiger dumps him first minute he gets back. Stevie has every right to feel pissed off and stick two fingers up at his former boss.

Whilst I don't disagree with you, and dont' think he'd have done it without Williams, Adam Scott won the WGC, it was *his* moment, NOT Stevie's.

Adam Scott's 1st win in god knows how long and it's completely over shadowed by Steve Williams because he was carrying the bag. And because he's Tiger's ex-caddie, he gets an interview? So the coverage, in a roundabout way, is centered around Tiger....again. Despite the fact he didn't contend (again).

I feel sorry for Adam Scott really. Whenever the coverage was on him, there would be at least 3 or 4 shots of Steve Williams and yet another comment by the commentators about him being "the 15th club this week".

Yes, he played his part, but Scott hit the shots and as much as I disagree with it, I think the broom handle putter was the real winner this week.

Well done Adam Scott, someone should give you credit this week.

Of course Scott won, but this was clearly a story.

There was so much fevered speculation about whether Tiger would make his big comeback and start his climb back to number 1, so for the caddy he fired a week ago to be on the bag of the winner is newsworthy. As for the interview, it is not exceptional for a caddy, coach or other entourage member to be interviewed if there is a story in it, so why not?

Because he wasn't interviewed because Scott won, he was interviewed because he's Tiger's Ex-Caddie.

That's what I have the issue with.

I understand it's a story, but is it so difficult to stop talking about Tiger for 5 minutes and let the guy enjoy his win?

I agree that Tigers dumping of Steve Williams, could have been done more professionally, but caddies get dumped every week on tour,it goes with the job.
I personally think Steve Williams is a classless ***,he's high profile because of who's bag he carried, and who's to say Tiger wouldn't have been as successfull with just about any caddy on the bag ?
Some of his comments about other players (Mickelson in particular) were totally unprofessional, and unacceptable.
I'm sorry, but Adam Scott played brilliantly, and his win shouldn't have been cheapened by his caddies spat with a former employer.
