I'm in need of some foreign currency, was looking around for the best exchange rates and found this https://www.thecurrencyclub.co.uk/ccp/home.do

Have never heard of them, hence my nervousness, but their rates are very good, and would give an extra £100 worth of currency over the PO. thomas Cook/ M&S etc.

I've googled them, and found a lot of good reviews (http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews253414.html), but would prefer it if someone I know (sort of) had used them.....

Dare I ask how much money you are taking as £100 difference is quite a huge amount. I used to work with foreign currency for many years so I have a rough idea how things should work.

Would rather not say, not really relevant. Just looking to see if anyone has used this company and whether they delivered on time etc.. Have called them already this morning, was expecting a call right back.........some 40 minutes ago.....

NMW,Be careful,I remember seeing something on watchdog about companies like this, you send your money off, then you dont receive your currency back in time for your trip,i would rather go to the post office or someone like that....

I have just checked the Post Office site and on today's rate you would get 1108 Euros for £1000 and from the Currency Club you would get 1114 Euros, so you are getting an extra 6 Euros for that amount which is about a fiver more.
I usually use Martin Lewis's Money Saving Expert website to check things out and there was a forum link on the Currency Club. The main suspicion appeared to be that those who raved about the service had never posted before, (employees?) so maybe a bit of caution needed.
Also, I might be stating the obvious but if you pay by credit card and even some debit cards you will be charged at least 1.5% as it counts a a cash withdrawal.

Thanks Satchfan. I did see that thread over the weekend, had a look on reviewcentre too. I'm sceptical, hence the post. I was going to order through the post office but have since found that Tesco's is better, only a 2 yen difference between Tesco and The currency club, and don't charge me any cash withdrawal fees if I use my Tesco Credit card to order..... The Currency Club did call me back, were very pleasant and informative, and open with my issue of (mis)trust.

Have decided to go with Tesco though

Good move, especially with the credit card. Despite working for the Post Office I used to get most of my currency from Tesco. As they say, you get nothing for loyalty!
