Managed to break 80 for the first time in a medal yesterday with a 10 over 79. Par is 69 and CSS was 72. :D

Nice wee 1.4 cut to get down to 12.

If only I didn't have that triple bogey 7 down our 16th

Well done. For everyone's benefit, what do you consider were the keys to your breakthrough?

Not sure that any one thing can be the key but thinking a little about it apart from actually getting some lessons and playing golf the following 3 things have helped me greatly.

1. A much slower/controlled swing - not lashing at the ball like I used to
2. Stiff shafted driver (on "loan" from my father in law ;) - not missing as many fairways as I used to or by as much as I did
3. Game Golf - for me it makes me focus and concentrate on each and every shot

Muineachan Abu (PS: I guess you are from Monaghan- my family's from Nr Emyvale!)

Great score. Well done! I had a great front 9 but lost it on the back 9 after an argument with some lads on the 10th when they questioned my leaving the course. They said it's against the rules. Found it they were wrong after as we had not held anyone up - in fact we stopped to let a two ball right behind through. Let it affect my game though
