doon from troon is absolutely correct. i've won / lost holes from positions that would defy belief more times than i can remember.

ah the joys of matchplay know matter how good or bad you play a hole its never over until its over nothing worse than losing a hole you thought you had in the bag due to a fantastic or even lucky shot but conversely nothing better than winning a hole your oppoment has smugly thought they had won! doon is right never give up! play well and enjoy

My opponent wasn't in the best of shape as she had fallen badly on the way out of the house, I offered her a postponment but she wanted to play and I won the first 3 holes, never looked back after thaty and won by 6&5.
18 points on the first nine so I played to my handicap. Getiing 7 shots was handy.

Seriously though you did the right thing to offer postponement and then got your head down and got the job done. It can be all too easy to feel sorry for an opponent for any number of reasons (like you're thrashing them) but I like to keep the momentum up until the win is in the bag and then relax and get all sympathetic!!

Good luck, and as others have said don't EVER give up..I played the first round of our summer matchplay on Friday..2 down with 5 to play UGH!! then out of nowhere played the last five hole 2 under par gross 
and won 2up..Easy Game LOL

She didn't accept the kind offer and so you can only do what is necessary and make sure you win. Well played and good luck in the next round. Mind you with all the cuts you're getting lately you may not get too many shots next time
