First Hole - how do you play it?

Ours is a short down hill par 3 with bunkers left, O.O.B down the left too and a big tree that overhangs the right side about 20 yards short right. Off the whites it can play about 160 but its usually about 140. Should be so easy to play, knock it on with an easy 8 but it never happens.

If the pin is cut right, I am screwed because I never have a shot. Being a drawer best I can hope for is hit the middle and have a 20ft putt, It never works and I always miss the green and walk off with a 4.

I hate it when we have to tee off the 10th hole first. Par 3, 164yds slightly uphill, bunkers short left and a couple around the green to the right. SI 17, so no shot obviously.
From the yellows it's not too bad. Smack a 7 iron up on the left hand side and let the ball bounce around. But off the white tees into the wind??? A right bugger of a shot for your first of the day and a bogey, or worse, is always on the cards. I hate starting a Stableford comp with a blob...you're playing "catch up" for the rest of the round.
