First h/cap..

It was 12 or 14 i cant remember , but i remember i got a call from the handicap secretary to thank me for my honest submission of cards ..

I think 18 is a fair starting point with a review after say 6 club comps .. but i can only look after my own so it doesnt really bother me

My first handicap was 27 at the age of 35. That was down to 24 pretty quickly and down to 20 in the first year or so. I never had high expectations of my game but always wanted to get down to 18 so I entered quite a few 18 handicap max comps on the thinking that if I wanted to get down to that level I needed to get used to playing without the extra shots. It also meant that there were more chances for a cut.

First handicap was 21 some 15 years ago, got down to 12 before giving the game up 9 years ago.

Restarted this year when I joined my new club with a handicap of 16, currently at 15.

28 4 years ago down to 22 within a year or so and will stay there a while as barely played for last few months due to work

The fact I am crap doesnt help either. Back in blighty mid October so intend to work hard on getting down before end of the year (we have qualifiers all year round)

Can they do that?
They did at Greenburn GC in Fauldhouse back in 1980s., its changed now of course. But back then my present club had a max limit of 24 h/c.

If you broke par you were cut by a full 3 shots , and could not go back up till the end of the season [ maybe ]
