I am working until 2pm on Xmas Eve and not back until 4th Jan - good job really as due to engineering works I would struggle getting into the City as London Bridge station and beyond are closed.

Hoping to fit some golf in and Walton Heath's new course is on my radar for 30th December.

My last ever Christmas in the Navy so making the most of 2 weeks off.

Currently hungover slumped in front of the TV and don't plan on moving anytime soon.

"Definitely!"

Last management meeting of the year at 2pm on a conference call. Other than that, looking after a poorly wife. 10 days of abdominal pain led to a ruptured appendix on Tuesday, emergency surgery on Wednesday, arrived home yesterday - all in time for Christmas!

Ouch! Best wishes to Mrs S! I just built a flat pack play kitchen that was far too complex for my hungover state!

Edit just to prove i have been grafting!

Working up until 16:00 on Christmas Eve then it's a long weekend with Friday and Monday as Public Hols, back in up until 16:00 on 31st and it's another long weekend. usually take time between Christmas & New Year, but not this year for some reason. Think after a long weekend at home I'll need to get out of the house for my own sanity ;-)

I'd planned to finish on the 23rd Dec and not go back until 5th Jan with lunchtime finishes all this week. I then realised there's an entry in my work diary for a meeting for 2-3 hours on 31st Dec. Cue frantic calls being made by me only to discover there's no getting out of it either. Just plain daft.

Just the public holidays off for me, I prefer to save my holidays for better weather and days out on nice golf courses :D

Finish on Wednesday morning, then not back in till Jan 6th.. Might pop into the office for a day or so over the break.. I don't really need to, but the kids are off school and I'll need the break..:D

As an aside, this is the first Christmas I've had off for 21 years. When I was in Newspapers we worked every day. I don't quite know what I'm going to do with myself with all the free time.. It won't be golfing as it hasn't stopped raining since late October...

Working till 11.30am on Christmas Eve and then not back till 9am on the 4th.
Virtually pointless working between Xmas and New Year as most people are either away, broke or still hungover..!

Yikes! What do you do? I'm guessing emergency services or similar?

Hovis, are you an a shift station or something like Day manning?
Even in the 60s and doing a 56 hour week we never had to do all the Bank Holidays ,like that pattern of yours.
Are you on the station all those hours or perhaps on call from home?
Either way I hope you have a quiet time, fires are never easy to deal with but I recall at Christmas time house fires were harrowing, for the public and the fire crews.
Best wishes
