Hi forum buds, after much faffing I have joined Mearns Castle Golf Academy,a nice little 9 hole, with scenic views and great training facilities. Will spend the next month getting some lessons(Adam Hunter Golf)and then hand in my 3 cards to get a handicap.Bring on the medals! PS If any nearby golfers fancy a game give me a PM,i will certainly be taking a few of you up on your kind offers of the same, cheers! ;)

Good stuff,it is certainly an impressive facility they have there so I am sure you will enjoy.

Did you have to have one of these noncy interviews?

Bet you the answer is no even though it is Newton Mearns. ;)

No interview at all! Just a quick chat with the nice guy at reception,5 min, there you go! Had a great session at the range too,hit my first ever 250 yards+ drives, happy days!

Oddly enough i went to Mother India's Cafe before,so no curry this time! I do like having the option however. Beats a bacon sarnie!:D :D :D

I was very impressed Dodger, great range, nice course, and awesome practice greens(2 for chipping/pitching/sandplay,2 for putting, all USPGA standard except the all weather putting green).Really nice staff too, can't wait for my lesson and 18 holes this Thursday! Perhaps even a curry! ;)

Hows the drainage now Deke? I know when they first opened they had some drainage issues on the course. One of the guys from work cut his teeth there before moving onto Bonnyton.

Range is decent enough but I ain't been there for years now.

Was fine today and i believe they have been doing some restoration work recently too Craw, will investigate further this Thursday.Greens look good for this time of year.

Mother India Cafe cracking place is that the one across from Kelvin Grove Muesuem, spent a few night in there when the wee man was in the hospital.Good to hear you've joined a club mate .

Cheers Steve, that is indeed the place, awesome food! Will practice my ass off for a bit then come up to Dundee for a game with your good self if you are still up for it?

Cheers Tiger,it is indeed about time! Today's round was indeed a scorcher, but can i keep it up? I am a bit scared that my swing will get fiddled with so much during my first lesson,I might loose my recent form! Fingers crossed mate.
