Films

Went to see 'Conclave' yesterday. Based on the novel by Robert Harries. Who'd have thought that a film entirely set in a few rooms of the Vatican could be as engrossing as it was. Great performance from Ralph Fiennes.
Friend of the wife went to see this - her & her partner said it was excellent

Just watched Everything Everywhere All At Once, bloody hell I'm ready for a lie down now 🤯

Absolutely bonkers but utterly superb 👌
I was picking my Mrs up from the station at midnight last night, so started watching this 10ish - but by 11pm I was totally baffled - put it down to dozing off occasionally - though maybe not. Will start again. It is definitely fascinating and most certainly mind boggling.

Watched In Bruges again the other night - my wife was going to Bruges on the weekend and she wanted to watch the film with her pal who was going with her, so we watched it. Probably 4th or 5th time I've seen it, but it is definitely one of my favourite films ever. It's just fantastic.
Me and the misses had a long weekend In Bruge just because we loved the film.
It was perfect city break as it was just before Xmas.

I have a theory that Cities fall into two categories.
1, you cannot do Cities in 1 weekend, London, New York, Paris.
2, you can do do Cities in 1 weekend, Porto, Amsterdam, Poznan, Gdansk, and Bruges is deffo in that list.

We absolutely loved Bruges.👍

Watched Threads on iPlayer. And I can’t unwatch it.

Made in 1984 based in Sheffield (script by Barry Hines…of Kes and other gritty northern novels). A no-holds docu-film about the build up to and subsequently the impact of a US/Russia nuclear war (with UK in the firing line) on the people of the city. It was banned/dropped by the BBC (even though BBC partly funded it) after one showing as it was just too realistic, gruesome and dark, with no happy endings or uplifting moments - just horrendously bleak and hope-less. As things almost certainly would be.
