Films

One of the best films of all-time. And near the end, when the escapers are making their way in different directions, you always hope Gordon Jackson will not reply "thank you" when the German says "Good luck to him" in English.

Amazing final scenes when the asteroid hits the States.

100%. I said out loud about couples embracing before the water hit, "that's how to go, don't run" although survival instinct must kick in.

Also striking that it isn't exactly a happy ending and the USA saves the world :-)

Morgan Freeman for President!

A way better film than Armageddon which came out the same time with a similar plot (albeit it with an 8-year-old writing the script). I had to admire NASA for producing a mid-90s space shuttle that could out fly Luke Skywalker's X-wing.
Now that James Earl Jones has passed, has Morgan Freeman become the iconic voice of films?

I think so. Not as deep but similar depth and tone. Lovely to listen to.

I remember during Lockdown, it was Samuel L. Jackson for the narrating of the year instead of Morgan freeman

I watched Before Dawn (Amazon) last night.

Story about Australia's part in WW1 in the trenches as seen through the eyes on one person in particular.
Enjoyable if harrowing as usual with this type of film.

One thing that made me smile was the pre watch warning - contains scenes of smoking!!!

Watched In Bruges again the other night - my wife was going to Bruges on the weekend and she wanted to watch the film with her pal who was going with her, so we watched it. Probably 4th or 5th time I've seen it, but it is definitely one of my favourite films ever. It's just fantastic.

Daughter and friends went to see Wicked a few days ago. They loved it. Said you didn't have to know anything about it or have been to see it in the theatre to absolutely enjoy it. Me and mrs planning to go see it before Christmas.

From now until the beginning of the new year, I'm making the effort to watch all three LOTR films, then move onto The Hobbit ones. 😅
I loved the LOTR trilogy but thought that The Hobbit two were weak...drawing out a short adventure story that I have read and loved for over 50yrs way beyond what was merited. Must get to re-watching the LOTR films soon.

Don't think I've ever seen it so it's in my watchlist now.

Watched Ben Is Back which I'd never seen. Julia Roberts is a brilliant actress (or rather actor!)...
