Fighting on the Golf Course!

The one thing that confuses me on this, it's written that the Craw was on the practice ground; Was this within the grounds of the golf club or was this public park/field space? If the former then what was the dog owner doing walking the dog on golf club grounds? Unless of course there is a public right of way. If it is the latter then then the dog owner may have had a point.

Back to the practice, if on the golf course and the owner was walking the dog as it was a big open space, then the dog got its just deserts and the owner is a pillock. If however said practice area has a public right of way or the practice was happening on a public field, then the Craw should've waited for the area to clear.

Don't really matter in the public instance who was there first, a cleanly struck golf ball is a missile that could kill and a golfer knows that and has the responsibility to be careful and responsible for his/her actions.

I feel you frustration, but sometimes its better to wait, no matter whether the practice area is public or private.

Owners fault plain and simple. Anyone that thinks you can brain a dog on command from 140 is either a better golfer than I'll ever be or simply isn't looking at this sensibly in that the dog shouldn't have been there and wouldn't have been if the owner was being responsible.

Have to admit if someone got in my face like that they'd have to remove the 8 iron i'd have inserted like a rectal probe. I've got no time for people being aggressive and confrontational for the sake of it, when common sense would say oh my bad dog shouldn't be there.

Have had 1 full on stand off on the course it was during a comp last summer and a group behind us played whilst we were still on the green. One of the old boys in my group kindly enough just said to them how they could have waited for us to vacate the green, then boom one of them decided to push the old boy and start threatening him. I stepped in to calm it down and was told I'd get his fist and driver round my face if I didn't walk away! Instead I Offered him the chance to try and carry out his threat there and then, he drew his fist back and took a step forward as if to threaten me he was about to do it, so I took a step closer and said let me get close enough so you don't miss but let me promise you if you do throw it, it'll be last thing you do. He pulled away and told me I'd been lucky this time! Ironically saw the prat a few weeks later bringing his lad to a karate class, where I'd just finished teaching a taekwondo session! He put his head down and scurried away!

Note to self, always be nice to Fader on the course, seriously, got to agree Fader, enough aggressive people in everyday life without idiots on the golf course trying it on. I also think the guy the 'craw' came across had a lucky escape, i get the impression he's got a short fuse, must be all the training he's had to diffuse situations.:)

Mitcham GC in good old Sarff London was known to have the odd punch up. Not something to be proud of and one of the reasons I left.
I will add the punch ups were always between visiting golfers who hadn't read the rules on the score card and proceeded to drive off the old 3rd tee whilst people were putting on the old 14th green or dog walkers who would ramble onto the fairway as your drive was in mid flight!

I'm actually a really placid person, don't see the need for aggression or fighting, despite my martial arts background which is purely sport and exercise for me. I'd never start or instigate a fight but if threatened I'd never walk away must be because I'm short and have some sort of small person syndrome!

But I agree with you totally I think craw was very restrained an considering how much aggression is the norm in everyday life what with road rage, arrogant gits walking down the street or even in some case in the workplace. I think we should be able to get well away from it in our hobbies and a golf course should be a sanctuary where the only person we get the hump with is ourself after yet another shank!

Nothing to be restrained about it was an accident and despite his reaction I guessed he was just letting off steam. I also wouldn't dream of hitting anyone with a golf club.

Like all martial arts people I know, they exude confidence and nearly always use words first as they absolutely know they can handle themselves- they are some of the nicest people I know.

I woulda just planted a Geordie kiss on him. I have a short temper.

Laughing my mammaries off at this thread  Think I'd have given the owner a matching bump on the noggin too, dragged off by his lughole and ejected from the course.

Here just this week a dog killed a 18 month child...owners should take care of the dogs, the dog on this thread is a saint
and did not arm nobody. so act like a men.

Maybe the owner should take more care, but humans are responsible not to do stupid things.
