Feds v jocko

I think Becker had it right when Andrew Castle asked who he wanted to win, as if Federer wins then it would break one of his records.... His response? 'I want the best man to win', now surely that's something we can all agree on???

Absolutely, but i'm a Jock and wan't Murray to win (even though its a very very tall order).
I would be cheering just as loudly if it were Henman or Rusedski in the same position.

Magnificent. I didn't think anyone could beat Djokovic in his current form.

Just superb and the chance for Federer to make history on Sunday.

Absolute rubbish,he was having a dig at a journalist who asked how Scotland were getting on at the world cup (Scotland hadn't qualified)

The reason most Englishmen dislike Murray is because of the wearing of the Portugal shirt during the World Cup (Thats a huge football tournament for all you Scots out there) back in 2006, opening stating that he was following "anyone but England"
Cant stand the bloke.

Like i said,it was directed at a journalist after he made the comments about Scotland and the world cup.
Having said that,if i was English i'd be bitter about the fact that Murray is head and shoulders better than any English tennis player in the modern era.

whether it was directed to a journalist or not, doesnt mean he didnt say it.
And as for being bitter?? Not me at all, Tennis as a sport ranks just below Beach Volleyball for me. The only way you'd catch me watching tennis was if one of my kids decided to play.

Oddly, not really bitter about murray being the best uk player. England don't have any decent players at the moment. Might not for a long time. If Murray had stayed in the uk set up, he might not be that good either. I have issues with British tennis. It squanders all the money, big time.

Brilliant win - I love Roger

I'd love Andy to make the final but think my heart would still be with Roger. Anyone else it would be for Andy but Roger is special!

+1, including the love bit!! I really like Murray - arguably the best British player for over a generation and has been unlucky to play in the era of Federer, Nadal and Djokovich. Take at least 1 of those away and he would have at least 1 grand slam win. But if he gets to the final I still think I'll support Federer just purely for the beauty of his tennis.

I don't like Murray very much for lots of reasons but then again, I don't like many tennis players. Towelling faces after every point, picking out their favourite ball. All fairly pathetic.

They should make them leave the towels at the changeover chair, just give them one ball to play with and I would also support the idea of just one serve allowed.

As for the LTA - possibly the most dysfunctional sporting body that we have. Absolutely useless.

Federer is an exception though. Sublime skills and all done with good grace. A joy to watch. One of my favourite sportsmen.

Federer may be a sublime tennis player, but he has the personality of a Grapefruit.

What? Unlike that raconteur and famous wit, Andy Murray? The lad sounds like he has Mogadon in his Barley Water.

And I disagree about Federer, I think he comes across pretty well and has done well to be as personable as he is, especially given that he is Swiss - a notoriously dull race.

Really don't get it. He is a Brit doing well in the same way we'll hope Brits like Hoy, etc do well in London. Will people be saying I don't like him because he's a Scot or did so at the last Olympic. It's a narrow minded attitude that permeates on here as well as in general. Look at some of the dross written on the Rangers thread.

I've no issue with Murray being Scottish and would love to see a Brit win for the first time in a generation although I can't see him beaten Federer

Think it will be a close one.

That was an incredible effort from Federer today. I was convinced that Novak would blow him away but it was a sublime display. if he hits those heights he will probably win.

But Murray is a superb defensive player and has a decent record against Fed (admittedly not in grand slams)

I said yesterday that I thought Murray could beat Fed but not Djokovic so i kind of have to stand by it. Murray in 5.
