Favourite hole you've played and why?

Probably change my mind later, going for the 12th at Tralee.

Its a mad hole:)

Sounds punishing?

To be fair, it's an elevated tee and the green is the size of Texas but getting it on dry land doesn't mean jack. The greens are lightning quick (11.5 on the stimp when we played) and there are some serious contours and levels to contend with. Although I must add it's a thoroughly enjoyable Golf hole (as is the remainder of the course) but for pure aesthetics, it's a real stand out. The anticipation of when your ball is in the air is magic, all the thoughts of where's it going to land, praying to some golf god it gets too within 10-15 feet!

5th at Teign Valley. Short par 3 only about 110 yards with a narrow long green and a pond down the left and a stream about 10 yards shy of the green. Lovely knee-knocker hole. You think you should be fine as its just a wedge but it plays with your mind! Aesthetically a lovely hole too.

I’ve posted this before but my favorite hole is the par 3 fifth at Holyte GC in Kent.

Elevated tee with trees either side then opening up to a green with elevated terraces on the left of the green for the next tee shoot, I absolutely love playing that hole.

An absolute belter of a hole. I love it. Can be seen here from when I played last year. Looks like the pic is from the 13th tee, the 2nd time you play it. Adding c. 2 clubs in length but even more elevated!

I'd say my favourite tee shot is the 18th at Seaford Head. The rest of the hole isn't anything overly special, but the tee shot? yea, that's great fun! So, in lieu of anything better, I'll say it's a draw between this one and Holtye!

3rd hole Barnsley municipal from the back tee.
Why?
Because it was my favourite hole 50 years ago and I've never changed my mind.

Note the white tee has shorter yardage, but increases severity of the dogleg. Interesting?

The 9th on the Robert the Bruce is a cracker. Blind tee shot (which is normally a no-no for me) over the hill. Wide open fairway. 2nd shot over a ravine to the green. All kinds of cliffs and the Irish Sea awaiting any strays

Shame when we played we all had to lay up as it was playing into a stiff breeze/hurricane ?

Par 3's at Wallasey are superb, both the 9th and 12th are superb tests of golf and proof a Par 3 doesn't need 200 yards to be hard, add on the 8th at Royal Aberdeen to this thinking too. These are amongst my favourite golf holes.

My ultimate favourite to date though is probably the 9th at Royal Aberdeen, a brilliant golf hole.

Daft little par 3 over the cliffs at the very end of Dunstanburgh, with the castle as a back drop it's a stunning hole. Only about 90 yards from the yellows but I don't think I've held the green yet ?

What do you mean could, it does. I'm almost certain I've never hit the green. Bogie I think is the best I've walked off with.
It's a killer. You've got to keep your ball below the level of the trees otherwise the wind starts to effect the ball.

I used to aim front left with a fade and let it run in to the middle of the green.

16, 17 and 18 is a tough finish.

I have a soft spot for the par 3 17th at The Manor House, Castle Combe

Hugely elevated tee, double green separated by a winding stream.

Lovely picturesque hole

Thanks for posting the picture I played the Holyte senior open for 6 years and always look forward to going back sadly I’ve had to miss it this last 2 years.

As you say you get to play it twice it really is a superb hole. ?

The 14th at Tyrrells Wood is a great par 4. SI 1 and if you play it well always leaves a smile on your face. I love just standing on the tee and looking.
Also the 6th at Woking. Another SI 1 hole, and rightly so. Not too difficult to play it well, but it's also very easy to cock it up.
I also love the 10th at Bearwood Lakes.
And let's not forget the 2nd at Crowborough.
