How many rounds of golf do you have to play before you are tired, before you need to take a break or say miss a competiton due to being tired???

Or do you not get tired and just keep going playing every comp possible regardless.

I ask because some players can play a lot of comps in the summer months and i was wandering your take on whether its acceptable to be tired playing competitive golf???

Unfortunately due to work, family etc I only get to play 2 or 3 rounds max a week during summer so dont really get tired from playing golf. Sometimes by the time the weekend comes I feel tired after working all week etc, but would never let this tiredness keep my off the course

36 holes and I'm fairly bushed! So much so that if I played teh following day I'd be feeling tired I think.

Don't get tired with 18. Flat course and electric trolley help in that regard.

Could play 18 every day no bother.

Never get tired of it........even when I have a run of poor results, I just play through it. Match play and medals I must play about 50 per year at two clubs.

Play two comps a week all summer plus the odd team match or day out in between and a couple of practice rounds, say 10/11 holes with the Mrs on a nice evening. If they start to stack up I do sometimes find myself looking forward to a night in instead but on the whole there's no better place to be than on the course. I have never not played in a competition due to being tired.

Fatigue doesn't come into the equation for me - its the pain from the right knee and ankle that stop me playing more than 1 round a day. I can play 2 days running but I've not tried a third - normally hobbling by then.
I used to play 36 quite a lot before injuries took hold but not any more. I might be able to do 27 but wouldn't be much use the next day.

I'll tell you where my limit is in July:

9th, 36 holes @ Hankley Common. 10th, Club county league match. 11th, 36 holes county OOM event. 12th, Trilby Tour @ Bearwood lakes.

Might need a little lie down after that!!

Played 18 yesterday on a course that is a little hilly, but not extreme, and I was shattered. I am usually ok, can do 36 holes in a day etc, but yesterday felt dreadful. I usually carry a banana or2 in the bag a big bottle of water, but yesterday forgot me nanas! Anyone know of anything that helps against tiredness late in the round?
Cheers

I play in as many comps as possible, i play every saturday and sunday morning (unless i've something important to do with HID's, such as a holiday)comp on or not.

During half term i played a whole round daily from the first saturday through to thursday and only stopped on the friday because it snowed. I carry a lightwieght bag and walk the (short) course. My left knee developed a bit of an ache but i'd have played more days weather permitting.

I always eat breakfast, and in the summer i'll take water round with me too.

slow burning carbs m8, think oats, wholemeal bread, non sugary fuel. i tend to have a big bowl of porridge(play am mostly) then at the 10th tee i will tend to have a wholemeal chicken sandwich or as u say bananas. what you DONT wanna do(as the majority do,lol) is fill yourself full of mars bars etc! now, they r great for 1 hole as you get the energy from the sugar, but after 20 mins or so you get the carb crash, which messes up your concentration!
so to sum up......slow burning complex carbs.....lol!

Thanks mate, I am usually really good at doing the breakfast thing, but working away atm, so not up making breakfast for kids etc, so maybe the bacon sarnie wasn't the best prep! Playing Friday, 27 holes, going to have to make sure and remember breakfast and bananas! lol

I could most probably manage 18 holes every other day now. Wasn't so long ago that I could do 36 a day no problem. Trips to Scotland saw me playing two rounds a day for six days on the trot but I was knackered at the end of the week and didn't want to see another golf ball for a couple of weeks.
I'd rather play 18 good holes than 36 mediocre ones

After seeing Eddie Izzard doing 43 marathons in 51 days i can say tiredness is all in the mind[unless you are ill]what he achieved was unbelievable, the key is to pace yourself and get plenty of rest inbetween games.

I dont think screwback is talking about rounds in one day...or is it just me. :D

It was more with the quantity of a period of days/weeks rather than just single days however i played in a 36 hole comp last year event last year and on approach to what was the 19th green the 2 i was playing with (juniors n all) said they felt they would not score well as they where tired.

Did 72 holes on the Longest Day challenge last year and to be honest felt pretty good UNTIL we stopped at the end. It suddenly hit me and I couldn't move. All the time we were playing (walked every hole) it was fine as I think the mind is focussing on the shots (or watching HTL chip in twice in the last 5 holes).

Usually though I can manage 36 without too much trouble and would easily go out and play 18 the following day. I think the problem for me isn't so much physical tiredness but mentally and if I play every day I tend to get lazy with my routine etc after three or four days.
