Big thanks and hats off to the boys and girls of Strathclyde Fire and Rescue.
I along with the local council took a bunch of school kids to Cowcaddens Fire Station as part of their Firereach programme. Had a wonderful day doing their confined spaces course with the kids. Crawling through tunnels and obstacle courses in pitch black with apparatus on and full kit, all supplied by Strathclyde Fire and Rescue.
The kids we had with us are lets say not the best but that's mainly down to either poor parenting or never having been given a chance or had a chance through various things out with their control.
The course was brilliant and you could feel the buzz off of some of the kids when they completed the tasks. Very worthwhile and rewarding. I also take my hat of to all fire fighters now after seeing what they have to do and how hard they train.
