Fancing a weekend away...any ideas?

The same had crossed my mind... although I'd need to see pics first... I have standards you know!

(albeit very low ones)

Where abouts are you Heidi? I thought you're up Scotland way aren't you? Is there nothing available on Groupon.com?
Edinburgh, I have a groupon thingie bought for Whitekirk - but thats only 25 mins away - i spose I could stay out in east lothian, but i've played most of the courses out that way...anything good in the borders?

Could do worse than take a
Look at The roxburghe hotel and course, cracking course and hotel near Hawick. Can reccomended hirsel as nice little course too.

If you fancy the borders, stay here http://www.wheatsheaf-swinton.co.uk/ lovely hotel with excellent food and a few courses not too far away.

The better courses within half hour or so drive will be Goswick and The Hirsel, you also have Eyemouth and Duns closeby with the Roxburghe and others also not too far away.

Absolutely beautiful part of the country, and the golfs not too shabby either.

I played Eyemouth on sat - its a great course and in great condition. Duns...hmmm only heard bad things! ;)

Heidi, Not quite 2 hours away, but you could go to perthshire, about an hour from you and some stunning courses, we base ourselves at the Redhouse Hotel in Couper Angus, the food's great, staff are excellent. This year we're playing Forfar, Kirrimuir, and Aylth, but there's plenty to choose from and all within 30 mins of the hotel, just a thought for you.

The MacDonald Hotel, Cardonald, in Peebles is very nice. I did not play the course as it looked a bit tight and new, probably settled down now.
The Lanark course is very good, not sure if you can get on at weekends. You could take in a bit of history and stay at The New Lanark Village Hotel. Right on the Clyde with a great walk to the Falls of Clyde.

While Duns is definitely not the greatest track on earth I wouldnt say it was awful.....some decent holes although some of the greens arent great at all.

The Hirsel and Goswick are definitely must plays if you are in the Borders area though, you wont be disappointed with either of them.

You have too much time on your hands Heidi!

Around the borders are North Berwick and Gullane. Havent played them myself but heard great things.
have played them mattyboy! always looking for a new course to add to my total! am on 101 new courses now - with 2 new ones to add at the weekend - Montrose and Arbroath Artisans ;)

Used GolfBreaks.Com for similar short breaks for my wife and I (we both play) . Had some good deals off them in the past.

McMillan Hotels down in the SW have some good Golf Breaks, Calley Palace has been mentioned, played there but stayed at North West Castle Hotel and also played Portpatrick (great course) and Stranraer as well. Used them several times.

Some nice golf in Speyside, but recent weather might be a problem if it's in the near future you're looking.

looking at either next weekend or the one after - i think i need to stay in borders - that way i can use up my daily golf deal of a day at whitekirk, coupled with a hotel - roxburghe is looking to be my fave so far! just trying to find a good deal ;)

You won't be disappointed with roxburghe it's a great course, if your away to relax I would also reccomended a buggy, as the trips between holes are longer than some of the par 5,s, your golf travel seems to do canny deals as well in my experience

Enjoy
