Following on from the recent thread re 'Who's the best player', has anyone played with any famous partners. Doesn't have to be a golfer.
I played in Michael Vaughan's testimonial golf day a few years back at Forest of Arden. Surrounded by a multitude of professional sportsmen, too many to quote. However, each fourball contained a celeb, and we got Nasser Hussain. Talk about concentration and effort. He played off 12 at the time, but hit the ball extremely well and was very competitive. If he played regularly he would be off about 5 or 6. Thoroughly nice guy, who told us a few good stories over a few beers afterwards.

I have played against John McGuiness who won £10m on the lottery a few years ago and managed to tuck him away. He is now stoney broke and after being led a merry dance by a football chairman.

I was in the next bay to Henrik Larsson at the range ;)

Some years back I played in an event organised by a now defunct golf ball manufacturer. They had as one of their PR celebrities Peter Thompson, the five times Open winner.

Imagine the panic when I saw the draw sheet and found I was playing in a goup with Peter Thompson.

Turned out it was not the great man himself but a pro from Erskine Golf Club who is called... yes you've guessed it, Peter Thompson. :D

"Thanks largely to a disastrous £4m investment in the lowly Scottish side Livingston FC, 44-year-old Mr McGuinness owes more than £2m and is about to have his house repossessed."

Blimey! He doesn't do things by halves, does he??

Never played with anyone famous but once hit Mike Newell (the ex-Blackburn striker and Luton manager). He was putting out on the 18th and I was laying up with a 4 iron on this par 5.

It must have hit a sprinkler head as it got an enormous bounce forward and hit him on the ankle as he was putting out.

He wasn't very impressed. I was quite chuffed as I'd just hit a 270 yard 4 iron and was on in two! :D

I once played behind Shaun Edwards (Wigan Rugby)and a couple of the younger members of the squad at Standish Court GC. All I can say is it was a very long round and it is good job he was a good rugby player.

We held our third annual school PTA golfing day in September with T Woods and P Mickelson on the roster. The inaugural year, the competition was won by T Woods. Tim and Peter that is.

I once played with a famous snooker player David Taylor (nicknamed "The Silver Fox").
Not being a big snooker fan I didn't even realise who he was until we started chatting during the round.
Really nice guy, and now runs a B&B up Cheshire way, he gave me his business card and invited me up to stay with him sometime but I lost it!
That's my only "claim to fame"

I too have played with our illustrious leader MikeH.
As well as Tappers at Ascot last year - don't BigWig with the names much.....
