Hello my local course is finally getting their Fairways treated from worm castings
Id like to know more about FairWay / Green Treatments

Ive been online to find some Info but cant really seem to find anything that explains it right for me.

I know What worm casts are but how do the treatments stop it?

and how long the treatments would last and also cost?

Cheers

Think that they might be spraying the grass with a chemical that kills the worms.

No worms - no wormcasts.

Seems a bit cruel to me after all aren't worms meant to be good for the soil? Aerating it etc?

I looked into this last year mainly to stop wormcasts on my lawn. Apparently, owing to EU regulations, you cannot get anything to stop it in your domestic garden these days. All products for domestic use have been banned ie you can't kill worms with chemicals. The chemicals are called lumbricides and go under various brand names. Basically, they kill worms which is great for eliminating the nuisance worm casts but doesn't help with soil drainage. Mind you, this doesn't mean that is what your greenkeepers are necessarily using. Changing the pH value of the soil can also reduce worm activity.
