I, personally, cant wait as I reckon its going to be one of the greatest seasons in the sport ever!

Lewis going up against Schumacher will be ace, I do feel though that Jensen is going to be shown up by Lewis as he is nowehere near the driver Lewis is!

I watched the unveiling of the new McLaren MP4-25 live this morning, and you have to admit, that car is a thing of beauty, very striking tail fin thats attached to the rear wing, I wonder if any of the other teams cars look anything similar.

41 days and counting....

Er no. I'd rather sand paper my eyeball than watch this procession every week.

I find I'm less interested this time round, mind you all that gave any interest last season was Button running away with it at the start and the others slowly catching up.

I agree with the sentiment - not too sure about sandpapering my winkle. I did it once - the A&E staff love regaling that tale.. :)

F1 - it's over-complicated!! Even when the guy has won and been presented with the trophy, sprayed the fizzy pop all over the place, had a shower, had a fumble with the lady and given the press conference and retired to the warmth of his comfy TravelTavern some technie geezer announces to the world that the winning car is disqualified because the near side floating menangis attached to the underover caliper restraint which adheres to the wing fold mechanism supporting the phlambo steering wrench was 1/10000000000000 of a mm too worn. :(

Can't think of a more boring sport. Sorry but until every car is identical and its truely driver against driver then it isn't a fair contest.

Does that mean until every golfer has the same clubs and its truely player against player its not a fair contest.

What a load of crap!

The sport isnt about drivers alone, its a technical sport between man/machine and about who can exploit the technologies better than others.

Should all golfers use the same clubs & balls then so that its a level playing field and therefore man vs man?

How can it be fair when team a) can afford to spend more money and pay for top notch engineers and team b) don't have the same resources. Give everyone the same components and then see what they can do and I might agree otherwise its just money talking.

Um no.

Don't like bootmender. Never did.

Also, Ferrari couldn't win, so they changed the points system. Ferrari won. Alot. So it was ok. Someone else won. Twice. So they change the point system. Hmm. Any one like to guess who it might favour? Someone in red perhaps?

Too much politics to be interesting.

Sorry, still not a valid argument at all.

Last season, Brawn had one of the smallest budgets of all the teams, remind me.....what happened?

The size of the budget means nowhere near as much as it used to, look at Ferrari & McLaren last season?

And on the same argument, what about Mr Woods and his army of sports scientists, fitness coaches, swing coach, dietician etc etc, do all tour players have these?

Sorry its not a sport. Not a level playing field and money talks or why else would Schumacher return. I think the golf analogy falls down as the pros all have access to the same top end equipment and at the end of the day its about their performance and not the driver, pit crews (although they are always good to watch) R&D, scientists etc. Is the smallest team in F1 going to have access to the same facilities as Ferrari at Maranello?

And money doesnt talk in golf then?

I suppose you believe that players all use whatever equipment they like, not whoever offers them the biggest & best sponsorship deal huh?

The smallest teams arent going to have access to facilities like Maranello or the McLaren Technology Centre etc etc, but last season proved they dont need to.

Arguably the 3 best teams last season were Brawn, Red Bull & Williams (purely becuase they truly are on a shoestring) and if you add all of their budgets up I bet you would still get change out of Ferrari's budget alone.

The rules changes and regulations that the FIA are bringing in now, alongside not being able to use wind tunnels during the season and a ban on testing, not only mean that teams require a lot less to operate but it levels the playing field out massively.

You have to look at F1 as a technical sport, and not just about the driver.

The whole 'one design' argument has been very much debated in the yachting world, especially regarding the Americas Cup and the Volvo Round The World Race. Though often the boats come from a handful of designers, the teams themselves have differing criteria as to what they think (via computer modelling) will be quickest. Some want a upwind flyer, whilest others may prefer a downwind blaster. Both contradictory to each other for producing the 'perfect' machine. While others might prefer a compromise design.

Same kinda thing for F1. Straight line speed, longer wheelbase, or better cornering, shorter wheelbase.

One design racing does exist in the yachting world, but the boats are not completly equal. They may weigh the same, but it's how that weight is distributed around the hull during the build process can make a 'fast' boat or a 'slow' boat.

F1 is drivers AND technology AND designers skill to produce a world championship car. It is not just about drivers.

I have a passing interest in it, can't watch a whole race, highlights is enough. Agree its shaping up to be more interesting this year - may try to watch a bit more.
I agree the technology side does not make it fair. If you have a faster car you have a better chance of winning.
Sorry KeefG trying to say using a Titleist over a Ping for example is the same as driving a 2009 Brawn instead of a 2009 Sauber is not a fair comparison. Top end golf is a level playing field other than the best can fly around tournaments in a lear jet but once on the course they have no technical advantage only a skills one.
