Never thought about it. Doubt it in context of stableford and certain even when I'm under handicap there are just more 3 points than 1's. In medal play and even when I shot level par scores years back, I know there were bogey's.
These days I'm just interested in the final total and as long as its buffer or better then I'm happy however I get there
As a junior the first time i had a chance to par the course i was level after 17. 18 was long par 5 with water to front of green. played safe with first 2 shots, with idea of chip and 2 putts. 3 times in water, carded a 12 and 7 over to finish.....aahhh great days
13 pars and 5 birdies for a 67 gross. I'll always remember that day as a day that my short game was on fire. Missed plenty of greens but just kept getting up and down from everywhere.
Played an outing at Dalmahoy many moons ago and scored 66 (-2) then 68 (-4) on the two courses only one bogey over the 36 holes. So in answer to the original post yes & yes, both rounds 2's & 3's only for stableford and 18 holes with no bogeys.
Ben Sayers was asked by an American visitor on the 1st tee of North Berwick what he normally scored. 'Fours' replied Ben.
A bet was struck that he could not play 18 holes in 4 each and he won.
