I've been off work with a chest infection since Tuesday - Aarrrrrrrrrrr.

Bored off my skull in the house, so I've been catching up with some of the films taped from Xmas in the TV planner.

So far watched Spartacus, Cleopatra and the greatest story ever told. All 4 hour epics. I loved these type of films as a kid, but have tried to watch them all again.

Which ones are your favourites?

I love the greatest storey ever told. Been off ill myself and sat through the whole of Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments! Long films those.

Also love Gladiator and Tombstone always watch those when they're on the box, would agree the Departed is very good as are Inception and a new favourite of mine is Warrior (Tom Hardy version).

Worst film I see recently has to be SkyFall just so poor.

Recently re-watched a couple of my favourite 'epics' from the 60's... 'Zulu' and 'The Sand Pebbles'... Still great films despite being made nearly fifty years ago... Think I'll try something 'fresher' next like 'The Godfather'...

Which film have I stayed awake fr the longest through mmmmmm ........ I've not managed to see any films at home from start to finish!

When I saw your name Val, I thought it would be braveheart.

One rule in Epic film club, if not Roman or Greek, the Brits/English have to win!

Ok I get what your after, epic is good in my mind but you mean like a battle kinda thing

Got to be Braveheart then..............

....................................either that Escape to Victory ;)

Lawrence of Arabia - Fantastic film
Dambusters - Brilliant
Platoon - Awesome
The Quiet Man - Still my favourite fight scene ever - I still think that a good fight should stop in the middle for a drink...

'the hill' starring sean connery, only found out about it a few years ago. ive now watched it 5 times.
also 'point break' ive watched it over 40 times quality picture

One of my favourites of all time grew up on that and I have the Kit the allies wore got it from Toffs I love it.

Ok so Epic films goto love the Great Escape and Laurance of Arabia 2 fine epics. Do like Michael Caine as Mr Chad in Zulu, does Saving Private Ryan count as well even if just for the opening scenes.

Airplane. Possibly not epic but funnier than every other film ever made. As for epic than Goodfellas is hard to beat.
