Energy during the round

Staying hydrated is very important, both physically and mentally. If you start to feel thirsty, you're already dehydrating. There's nothing wrong with topping up energy levels either, as Shiny has already stated, everyone's different, so some of you may not require it......and some of you that don't may find your better off if you do..... it's not about real men don't.... that's a stupid attitude.

For me, I carry a bottle or two of water, and some of the "Eat Natural" nut bars, by far the best thing on offer, extremely yummy too - except for the yoghurt covered apricot one uuuurgh!! The nut bars are a bargain in Costco, box of 20 for approx £10 as opposed to paying £1.20 each in the pro shop. If I don't have any nut bars, then I'll pick up a Big Banana flapjack in the pro shop, the next best thing. Just a nibble and swig on each tee to keep everything ticking over.

I usually have a good breakfast before I set out and stick a banana in the bag in case I get peckish at the turn.

I do get pretty thirsty during a round though. No idea why, just alweays seem to either have a dry mouth or a thirst on. Either way, I carry 2, 500ml bottles with corial in and just sip between holes.

Is this the Gullane No 3 that when I was 12 years old I used to skip round in 2 hours. That was after finishing the paper round and walking the dogs. Cycling to and from the course of course.
I can't believe that I could do all that without the help of a sports bar and drink.
Porrige for breakfast and a jeely piece for lunch.

42 years later I can still skip round a course in 2 hours but I do confess to eating a banana and sipping half a bottle of water.
Talk about pampered softees.

Just a bottle of fat coke on the 9th. I'll have a breakfast bar in the bag but rarely feel hungry when having a round (I've actually lost 3 stone since taking it up last year ;)).

How did you know it was 2 hours?

When I was 12, we were too poor to be able to afford watches - and some vandal had stolen the one from the club-house!

We had to.....

I think you know/could invent the rest.

BTW. Very nice course - and home to my only sub-70 round!

5 pages in a no-one has recommended 'full cooked breakfast and a couple of pints of Guinness'

strange

equally, given the volume of bacon sarnies I see consumed at 'half way huts', they get little of a mention

the day I'm nibbling nuts and sipping water (yes I do carry it, and drink it) is probably the day I switch pastimes.

if, on the other hand, it's all about performance, get a buggy, add a coolbox and a waitress/personal trainer (as a caddie) and perform.......

Jason Dranfield on here put me on to Iconiq coconut water and I tried it in the last hot spell and it did seem to keep my hydrated. The issue I had was they come in cartons with straws so it was an all or nothing thing. Couldn't sip it and put the cap back on

These are excellent. Lots of eating but need lots of fluid with them

They aren't the cheapest, but by god they are tasty. IMO
