Had a mail this morning as our end of season handicap review had just taken place. Got a cut of 1.1 down to 13.5 - so very happy as I think that's a fair representation of my golf.

Have you had yours? How did you do?

I've been given a shot back, not a happy golfer though as i played in a medal last week and got cut .8,i've now got that back plus an extra .2
so in the last week i've gone from 12.1 to 11.3 to 12.3

Still waiting for ours, they did it in February last year. Am really hoping they'll cut me enough to get to single figures. Not sure if 12.7 to 9.9 is enough to warrant it but have everything crossed.

A 1.1 cut ? Have always been told by Congu that HC cuts via Clause 23 or AR are to be in .5 variations ?

from memory a annual handicap review can cut as much as they want with a minimum of 1 stroke. they cant cut anything off a cat 1 player and cant cut big enough to make the a cat 2 player a cat 1

dont know where i heard that. could be on the back of a cereal box for all i know

You can cut a cat 1 and a cat 2 to cat 1 just need authority from the county to do so

What reason can they give for cutting?

there's quite a few. for eg
carding high score in normal comps but doing well in better balls and knock outs

I think mine was in relation to 3 or 4 comps where I had pretty good rounds that were blighted by a couple of trebles etc....so ended up buffering but could of been worldies if I'd not had those implosion holes.

The handicapping software produces a report which identifies players who, over the whole year, have performed significantly at variance with their "target performance" - better than will produce a reduction recommendation, worse than will produce an increase recommendation. The extent of the "better than" or "worse than" will dictate whether there is any recommendation.

Performance in non-qualifiers such as 4BBB and knockouts should only be used as additional evidence to that produced by the report.

Quite interested to know how that works, as handicaps are adjusted against CSS / buffers as you go through the season.
So if you've been cut after competitions would you still get flagged on review?

Yes, you certainly can. The Annual Review report calculates something called the "Median Gross Differential" and your performance in qualifiers over the whole year is measured against that.
