Emma Watson

Well, you can choose whether or not to attend a photoshoot...

Most would choose not to have their 'phone hacked or have their picture taken from afar...
That's exposure...literally on her terms, agreed. I thought you were implying that exposure positive or negative was 'part & parcel of her' ?? Is that not the case?
I'm no rampant feminist but it's all about choice. Why can't she be an advocate of women's rights and do the semi clad phot shoot?

I was 'implying' her job doesn't just involve being on set making the film... It requires her participation in promotion [exposure]...

'Exposure' whether she likes it or not is part and parcel of her 'job'...

She could've declined to do the photoshoot and I'd be surprised if she didn't have some kind of veto if there were any pictures she was uncomfortable with... So one must assume she was OK with the 'exposure'...

I'm pretty sure she knows exactly what is part of her job and I'm sure that she picks exactly what she wants to do - the photo shoot was on her terms and she controlled the situation. You don't see her splashed all over the media on a regular basis

You can't argue that she doesn't crave exposure when she is on the front cover of a magazine with her chest half on display. That picture is all about publicity and exposure and little to do with acting skills. It is female actress default action number 2 in getting cheap publicity, default number 1 is hanging out of your dress at the premiere.

I think the picture is hugely disappointing.

What is it exactly she has to learn from ?

I'm guessing from the post you don't seem to know much about the young lady herself. The one thing doesn't do is "crave" exposure , in fact the total opposite and would happily not be in the limelight - she keeps her private life exactly that - private.

When she finished filming Harry Potter she went back to Uni to finish her education

The picture is nothing - it's just a photo of a very pretty intelligent young lady who makes her own choices - something she is always vocal about - equal rights for females and the right for them to make their own choice.

What she has to learn from is what she says and what she does. Should relate.

eg her words and not mine quote, " The saddest thing for a girl to do, is dumb herself down for a guy". Nigh on getting your hairy areolas out, does not do that.

Now don't get me wrong, if she did that in an acting role I don't think anyone would have issue with that. In fact she would be lauded for it. but " getting your tits out for the lads". Will receive said ridicule. Especially when she did not have to do it, and no one forced her to do it.

As a father to be, you will pass those words of wisdom onto your child/children. 👍

Furthermore, for her to say that she does not know what all the fuss is about, tells me this is not the last we will hear of Miss Watson.

When has she "dumbed down for a guy" ?

As far as I can tell she seems to be doing nothing wrong and indeed in control of her life - certainly a role model for young girls all over the country.

Are you really ridiculing her ? For what exactly ?

I agree with her in regards the fuss - it's over nothing at all but I expect her to laugh it off and go back to her life.

Why should a woman not use her natural beauty for her own gains? Doing so is perfectly acceptable with feminism, it only wouldn't be if she didn't want to but a man was pressing her into doing it.

When a guy gets his top off for a photo shoot we (rightly) don't say how women are objectifying him and that this robs the man of his masculinity. The opposite I'd say.

I'm quite enjoying a bunch of exceptionally diverse golfers clarifying what feminism is and isn't.

I have a feisty 14yr old daughter and we touch upon this every so often. According to her Little Mix prancing on stage in leotards is empowering, to me it is cheap and using sex to sell records. She is less impressed with Emma Watson over this but she still wont agree with me on the subject. I have no problem with that, I see it as part of my role to test her theories and if she can back them up that is great. There is no right or wrong answer over this but I genuinely fail to see how the picture talked about is a stride forward for women or for EW to be taken seriously as an actress. To me it is quite the opposite.
