Saw this hoohah about this strong active feminist posing in Vanity Fair.
Showing your body in a context which contradicts what you claim are your values does indeed invalidate your activism.
Surely this is somewhat hypocritical
to complain about our society that 'sexualises' women whilst posing provocatively for a magazine.
or have I misunderstood this entirely?
Thoughts please....

Everyone has principles until they have a film to promote!
Also she's, what, 26? She's allowed to be idealistic until she realises ideals don't pay the mortgage.

Is it not about personal choice - she as female can make her choices , she doesn't have to be forced to cover up head to toe and she shouldn't feel ashamed to show of her body if she wished in what she feels is a tasteful way.

It seems to me to be a massive overreaction - the women reacting heavily who I understand is a very vocal feminist is prob doing more damage than good. Can't see what Emma Watson has done wrong and certainly can't see it harming her views on equal rights for women.

She's wealthy enough not to do it if she so chooses. And she can change her mind on her stance/opinion if she wants. Hypocritical? Only if she does something whilst saying it is wrong.

As for people/feminists saying she shouldn't do it; yawn...

If she is a feminist, crack on. But why she she would want to show off an average cleavage in a photo shoot is beyond me. rubbish photos, rubbish cleavage, rubbish feminist.
Give us summat proper to talk about Emma, not this Rammel.

She's still a kid... Still growing up...

And, in the scheme of life, is what she does/doesn't do that important?

Steve I was 16 and working down the pit as a kid. Week before I was delivering papers. She is now 26. She is now a woman.
Trouble is as a actress/ celebrity has she craved " exposure". By doing the shoot and showing her chest, it has created a stir. If she had one of my tee shirts on she would not of got her point across, if even there is a point.
Being a feminist has not helped her cause.
She will learn from it and at the same time she will realise you cannot please everyone.
in fact she would be a good member on this forum 😁

Didnt know she was supposed to be a "feminst", but then I don't bother paying attention to her or many like her.
I just think its very easy to preach when you're in a priveleged position, no matter who you are.

Im not one to sympathise with Celebs. And certainly think a lot of their causes are simply to massage their ego as they truly think they can change the world through Facebook likes.

But..... She has always seemed grounded. Went to university in the us after Harry Potter as he education was important to her. Then left as she felt the media circus was affecting he classmates.

I think in regards to her mix messages that showing off a body you're confident with is no bad thing. If she's allowed it to be airbrushed then I'd question the strength of her stance.

that said, I did chuckle at an interview of hers where she refused to where a corset during filing of beauty and the beast as she believed they (Disney) portrayed unrealistic ideas of women (princesses) and how they could be heroes wearing one.

Lets not forget that there is a beast in this movie and they've had mermaid princesses, so realism isn't necessary key 😂😂😂

She can do whatever she wants to do, she's an adult. She is allowed to make her own decisions
Personally, I think she is A1!

I've got a feeling that you and me would be well down on her To Do list Mate...

Imurg you are correct, she is a feminist so dosent shave ( anywhere) and likes facial hair. Am near the top and rightly so.

What is it exactly she has to learn from ?

I'm guessing from the post you don't seem to know much about the young lady herself. The one thing doesn't do is "crave" exposure , in fact the total opposite and would happily not be in the limelight - she keeps her private life exactly that - private.

When she finished filming Harry Potter she went back to Uni to finish her education

The picture is nothing - it's just a photo of a very pretty intelligent young lady who makes her own choices - something she is always vocal about - equal rights for females and the right for them to make their own choice.

'Exposure' whether she likes it or not is part and parcel of her 'job'...

She could've declined to do the photoshoot and I'd be surprised if she didn't have some kind of veto if there were any pictures she was uncomfortable with... So one must assume she was OK with the 'exposure'...
