Embarrassed

I think you can be more embarrassed when you play out of your skin, especially in a match against strangers having previously warned them that you're more often playing out of the shrubbery.

as for bad, if got embarrassed by that I'd never play, but then my daughter does want me to take up diving!

It's funny when you see someone like Smiffy (12h/cap) hit a nice shot onto a green from 150 yds and then see his head go down 'cos it's 15ft from the flag and not 4ft

Because I know that from 4ft, even I should still get down in one, two, maybe three more.
But from 15ft???
We're in 5 putt country.
Believe me, it gets funnier

I do not really get embarassed any more. Once I was at a stage where I did not feel that I was holding anyone up and could compete to a certain extent with those that I was playing with then I felt fine.

OK still have a few bad days that bring a red tinge to the cheeks but not as many now.

I agree. Last year my mind was full of swing thoughts etc and I was in my own little world (usually of pain as 0.1 loomed again). This year I hit it, try and find it and keep going. I'm more relaxed, enjoying it more and I think I'm better company. I do still get annoyed but that is more down to fluffing a silly chip or bunker shot. We all do it so I'll let it pass and move on

I had a friendly round with a chap who doesn't yet have a handicap the other weekend, he insisted he was playing dreadfully and the other guys in our group agreed to allow him 28, meaning I was conceding 14 shots. He's proceeded to score 45 points and shot one less than my best round this year! Needless to say I made damn sure he was embarrassed about that...

A bunch of them went away for a weekend's golf this week, made him play off 20th and he still wiped the floor with them. Once he learns how to putt he'll be an easy ten handicap. Git...

I though Hywel was selling all his gear?

Friendly on monday with son in law (h/c 7 ) and reg. playing partner ( h/c 13)
17 points after 7 holes then 1 yes 1 point in the next 7 holes!finishing up with 22.
It wasnt as if I was hacking it OOB and into water. Shots just leaked away through tops, slices etc.
Bloody embarrassing.

H/C 14.2 would you believe

That's not so bad.
One player in the recent Trilby Tour event at Bearwood Lakes racked up a fantastic 10 points. 4 on the F9 and 6 on the back. I heard he played off 11 and it only cost him £250.00 to enter.
That's £25.00 a point that is!!

Smiffy, you'll just have to practice more and try harder.

the thing that realley gets my goat is...youve got a easy
chip onto the green, say from 12 feet ,you make a couple of
practice swings, like you know what your doing, then blade it
right accross to the other side.its not funny at all.

Oh yes it is :D

I'm not really embarrassed as I don't play with golfers who are really that good to make me look silly...

The ones who are that good are very relaxed and nice so I don't feel that bad. :D

I wish I could do that though :(

I played this evening with a guy off 15, the last 7 holes we played he went par/birdie/par/birdie/bogie/par/par, so he was 1 under. When I teased him that I was going to have a word with the secretary about his h/cap he said exactly what you did - "you make me feel so relaxed that the game seems so easy".

He even asked if we could play in the 4ball events together at the club - nice chap he was too.

Bob = i've got the opposite problem. I rarely play with anyone under a 10 handicap - most of the time i play at our place i know i'll be the 'best' player in the group and just relax.

When i do play with other players - last round of the club champs being the case in point, i basically play crap - reckon i need to play more often with them all and relax a bit! i have some wierd sub-conscious ability to hide any semblance of good golf from them

I have to say playing with HTL, James, Smiffy or the guys from the Macmillan Day, there was so much banter flying that it became easy to relax and strangely enough I played better golf. There must be something in it
