Embarassing moments.

I am currently honing my game in Florida. Playing every day, with a tad of practice thrown in.

Now since gettin off the plane, I have been hitting my irons as god intended, nice little draw, 185 yard 6is, etc. 4is going a dream.

5w is awesome, driver a bit less so, developed a bit of a snappy.

Unfortunatley my short game has been left at home. Big time.

So, turn up at a course I haven't played before. Check in, clubs on a buggy. Ask starter which way to the range to warm up. His comment (condescending, I think), you can't drive there, you have to walk. It's over there.

So wander over. Usual set up. Big pond to splash balls into. Hit a few 6i, nice gentle draw, all ok. Get the old 54 out, different story.

Low shank, low shank, low shank, low shank, middled, low shank, etc.

6i, again, perfect.

54 again, bit of a shank. It clears the lake edge (60 odd yard carry) bangs off the cart path, over the starters shoulder and smashes into the windshield of the buggy behind him. Oops.

Odd thing was, I then shot 3 over for the front 9. Having started bogey, double.

Make sure you have 4 or 5 inches gap between your hands and your thighs. If your hands get too close you'll shank it.

Also make sure you are not getting too far inside the line, keep the iron going back straight as long as possible, this cured me when I had a dose f the Shermans.

Heck, I'm not asking for sympathy, far from it. Nailing a ball at the starter is just part of the fun.

Shanked every wedge on the practice ground again today, but out on the course, no problems.

I am getting a strange tan, partly due to playing in a visor. It has left a white stripe across my fore head.

though the weather is much better here, I am major envious. I'd say you're blinking lucky. My problem is taking my range form onto the course not t'other way round!!!! That said the tangerine leper look you're developing isn't sounding too pretty .

At least you didn't get your club caught in the turf on a fat 6I, have the club ripped from your hand and nearly decapitate two golfers playing a different hole. Now that's embarrassing! Enjoy the sun.
