Electric trolleys should be banned !!!!!

I have been playing this wonderful game for more years than I care to remeber and the common denominator in slow play is the electric trolley . I have played up and down the country and everywhere I have played with someone with a 'BED WETTERS' trolley has slowed up play. The pace they walk at is never brisk and the path they must follow is usually like the a motorway diversion.

I played with wondeful guys at Goswick but the whole trolley brigade thing did my nut in. I am a believer in if you need it wear it if not leave it. Some guys I see are geared up for a months stint on Everest and enough rations to last a month.

So I say forget all the blethering about GPS and lets get everyone carrying their bag from now on and watch the times of a round of golf drop back into the 3-4 hour marker.

Dunno where you play, but never takes us more than 3.5hrs for a 4Ball, and I use a Powakaddy.

I think using an electric trolley has actually speeded me up tbh, as carrying was wrecking my knee, and by the 15th, I was usually wilting.

Absolutely no idea where you are coming from........

I have an electric trolley and a tour bag myself but carry 99% of the time.
I spoke to a lady golfer and mother of 2 young boys. She wont let them carry in case it deforms them. (14 and 16)
I saw the west of England under 18 girls championships at Weston super mud (which is as flat as a pancake) and they all had electric trolleys.
But, at my home club, there are coffin dodgers who wouldnt be able to play without them
They have their place, but I agree, if you can carry, get it on your back.
Incidently, is it my imagination or do most Cat I golfers carry on a regular basis?
Who is 5 or under and carries in here?

Get it on ya back and carry it like the fit young man you are please!!
On the flipside the old geezers sometimes need these shopping trolleys as they are to infirm to carry so I can understand them using them but not bloody juniors!!

I can't agree with this..if anything an electric trolley probably speeds up play..Our fourballs generally take no more than 3.5 hrs

I went round gillingham in 2.5hrs last summer with an electric trolley.

Why make a bloody hard game any harder if the tools are there to take the strain.

I love my gokart, I really do and provided people know how to use it, i.e putting it in the right places etc, there is no reason for a leccy trolley to slow play.

I agree that buggies hold up play but not electric trollies. What slows play up is not leaving them in the right place or not taking all the clubs you may need when you are leaving it some distance away.

Though I agree with over packing, have played with people who take flasks of tee, sandwiches, the full works on every round. I am out for a round of golf not a picnic.

bob - I carry for the exercise - it is improving my stregth and actually seems to help my game in the long run, as I'm getting fitter, stronger and leaner, and can therefore hit it further, and don't hit bad shots through tiredness as often.

the better golfers (0-4) at my place tend to have tour bags and electric trolleys, due to keeping everything in the bag eg extra jumper, a slip, full waterproofs, plenty of balls, gloves etc. This is because most play at a number of courses, and might not get the time to put things in& out of a carry bag if playing at one place saturday, then others on sunday and monday. Equally - they don't want to be carrying everything on their back!

The slowest player in our club uses a pull trolley - he is a slow walker, but also has a ridiculous pre-shot routine - it is this that causes slow play rather than his trolley. In addition, people who wait for the green to clear when 200yds away, and then hit the ball 80 yards with a 3 wood are as bad, trolleys or not (and at our club, they tend to be lady members).

There is a junior at our track who is about 10 and carry's most of the time, the damage is no doubt being done as will most of us. Look at Seve, from a young age he carried and damaged his back further and lived and played in pain for his career. I can not see or have experienced anyone in my short golfing life with an electric trolley slowing play up (with the exception of the simpletons leaving them miles from the next tee).

I think fair weather golfers are the worst of all slow players more so than anything or person else. I sometimes wish they would take their Dunlop Max set with matching trolley then disappear into the sand on the 1st never to be seen again.

Im a category 1 and always carry my bag mostly for the exercise as much as anything - I think powercaddys are a good thing generally they can slow things down on certain courses but mostly they speed up play and more importantly let some people enjoy the game that may have become to much physically for them

I do, kind of, know what you mean!
There are some people who seem to walk at the pace of the motorised trolley's slowest setting, rather than speeding up the trolley and making it move at their normal walking pace.

I've played with & behind people who in summer use a PK but in winter carry and they seem so much slower moving down the fairway during the summer.

I also agree with the detours part of Madandra's post. They always seem to have to go the longest route around the green.

Saying all that not everyone is too slow with them & I've contemplated getting one for myself!
