Edinburgh golf clubs

Lots of options for you so probably depends on exactly where you're based, what you do and don't like in a course/club, what sort of practise facilities you'd like etc.

My top two in Edinburgh (that would let me join anyway) are duddingston and mortonhall but those will set you back closer to £1000 than £700.

played Morton hall when the open was in town few years back.

I know its not a glamour 'name' for Scottish courses but my god i though it was SUPERB. Absolutely stunning course and so many interesting holes. In the same month i managed to get on at Wentworth (Edinburgh) and the Belfry. Neither of which i enjoyed half as much as Mortonhall.

I'd join in a flash personally

Yeah and blind par 3s are not my idea of fun!

Makes you learn to hit it straight and to trust the line you take though ;)

Although it looks very hilly, all the par 4s have a flat area to play your tee shot into which gives you a flat stance to play your shot to the green. Course management is the key to a good score round there.

Bruntsfield Links are going to be doing some serious course work in the near future. It was a nice course but plagued by wet low lying ground. Hope they address the drainage issues as I think it's a cracking course.

Some good fun holes amongst some mad ones but a real member's course - I hate playing matches there, local knowledge a huge advantage! :)

That the property prices or the club fees you're talking about ? Perhaps a man of your wealth & influence should be looking at Royal Burgess or Bruntsfield - both closer to your preferred areas in town ;)

Last time I looked Mortonhall still had a hefty joining fee in excess of £2k (admittedly 3 or 4 years ago)

Compared with Surrey - both the club fees and the house prices are relatively inexpensive. I'll have a look also at Bruntsfield and Royal Burgess. Then there is also the possibilty of us moving to Morningside or just up the road on the south side of Bruntsfield Links and the Meadows - so maybe Duddingston or Mortonhall if south of the New Town

Also depends if you don't mind women lowering the tone of the golf club and slowing up play etc!

MH looks excellent ++ and with 2015-16 subs at under a grand - a bargain :)

First place I broke 80! Shot 78 in spite of the haar making following most shots rather difficult! The par 5 4th can be a bit 'interesting'! Not only does another fairway cross it, but the local scrotes have been known to collect tee shots! Played a match where we both hit fine shots only to have them both nicked!

The burgess and bruntsfield both require willys for membership. :)

Wasn't aware of that about Bruntsfield

Although IMHO both Burgess & Bruntsfield are a bit twee & over rated - best tracks in the City are Duddingston, Mortonhall & my own track (even if it is technically outside the city boundaries) if you're looking for something of length
