Anybody used one of these.. I decided I needed a 60 deg wedge so went to my local European Golf shop in Nottingham and rather than buy a top brand at £70+ opted for a NZ9 the new one with Lamkin grip.. really like the club but it destroys balls.. I normally play with nike or callaway balls the first time I used the NZ9 it looked as though I had attached the ball with a vegetable peeler with lots of threads being produced.. switched to Dunlop NZ9 balls and the same effect .. is this normal from a wedge .. I alos use Mizuno 56deg and never noticed and destruction of balls with that ..

Yes, it completely shaves any balls. After a session on the range you're plucking out white threads from the grooves. On the upside it really feels like the wedge grips the ball and definitely stops it better. I had the grip on mine replaced as I didn't like the corded dunlop grip it came with.

Welcome along. I find it's a problem with most new wedges, irrespective of maker. With the grooves being so new and sharp they all tend to shred balls to start with. Nothing beats watching the ball land and zip with a new wedge does it

Thanks for the welcomes guys. Homer, I just got a set of G30's recently, the grooves are not as sharp and the ball survives better with both wedges (no white shavings on therange :D). Definitely less backspin though.
