On the upside better banned for 2 months now than say June/July?
Resign from council? - I dont know about you but I'd give up my council position in a second, only do it out of a sense of duty....so that's another plus point.
Write a letter, that'll take approx 2 minutes, no biggy.
Over the piece it sounds like other than the shame factor, things aren't too bad? Thinks of the words 'yesterdays papers' - give it a week and no-one will give a stuff, they'll be more worried about their mortgage or tearaway teenage daughter or something else.
If you feel hard done by take your patronage to another club and sod the lot of 'em?
p.s. I don't think you'll get anywhere with this other guy, matter is now closed.
I'm not so sure birdie, the guy in question is not a happy bunny. He's going down this afternoon to speak with the manager. The barmaid was using his name without his consent and said he did something that he didn't so there is 2 mistermeanors here, fingers crossed..
I dont play golf during January anyway, I'm going on 2, 1 week holidays this month and next, so thats 6 of the 8 weeks taken care of and as for the other 2 I only had 1 game of golf planned. So I'm looking at it this way [****] the lot of them I'll take it on the chin....Council stinks, its to much hassel looking after the juniors and thirdly I can enjoy my golf and not worry about all the back stabbers....
Clubchamp, I think you have been treated pretty harshly overall with a punishment far too steep for the crime.
Yes you have taken a bit of a liberty but a rollocking would have been more appropriate in this case.
As for the false evidence she needs to respect the people who are paying her wages at the end of the day and not take sides because of whatever agenda she has.
My next step would be to leave the club, taking as many people as possible with you.
Are there perhaps some jealousy issues over your club champion status?
General consensus seems to be you have been done a terrible wrong.
Unless the club you play at has a particularly fine course maybe you should look to join elsewhere - your low handicap and club champ status will serve you well.
If you need a character reference you can ask us lot!
People used to be funny with me in the pub during my pool playing days.
Shame that people can be that petty, reminds me of the low-lifes who key peoples cars out of the resentment that they harbour as they still drive a 1989 Sierra 1.8L!
Cheers guys opp's sorry shouldnt of used the word cheers that got me into this trouble. Thank you guys! Well you know what golf clubs are like. I'll tell you this I wont miss the clubhouse 1 bit and I wont miss much golf either in the next 2 months. I feel cheated by her for lying. But an old saying "her day will come" unfortunately the guys wont speak up against her she's had a few gents banned now and she's only been in the job 7 years.
The only thing about an appeal is they might increse the sentance. The guy is just is just off the phone to me and he spoke to the barmaid and she is saying that he did agree with her. So looks like I'll have to live with it. As for leaving the club I've been there 27 years and I wont leave because of her.
Thanks for the support guys
fubar to that, I wouldnt pay good money to anyone to be told I couldnt play for two months, Id want my cash back and I would look for a better club, one not so stuck in the 1920s, but then again I am a noob and a golfing socialist
Correct me if I am wrong but has the Bar midden not broken the law by serving two rat ersed golfers more drink? I thought it was 'illegal' to serve swally to drunks.
It is illegal to serve an intoxicated person, who is the bar run by? if it is brewery owned you can put in a complaint saying it was the bartenders fault for continuing to serve you!!! she will / should be most definitely warned if not sacked.
I hope you dont tip her when she serves you! she sounds like a dragon!
Harsh mate but like you said may be a blessing without having to worry about the juniors now. Some of ours are good as gold. One won the EGU gold medal comp open to winners from all uk clubs this year and is the nicest kid you could meet - even after his win and being on Sky his was modest and reticent about talking about it. Others think cos they have a half decent swing they are gods gift and things like ettiquette don't matter (and obeying the rules).
Not sure if I'd be pursuing the barmaid allegations and whether she was right to serve you though.
If you don't want to leave (and after 27 why should you) just take your medicine and let it go. You'll be able to laugh about it come the new golfing season.
